Turtle Wax's Liquid Clay Bar
Turtle Wax's Liquid Clay Bar
Does anyone currently use Turtle Wax's Liquid Clay Bar product for their car?
right, now I'm using Turtle Wax's LIQUID ICE. It's not bad, but i'm trying to take care of some small swirl marks.
What do I do to make my car have a glossy finish? And yes, I did read the guides, but I still have this question.

TW liquid clay bar is certifiably useless. Stick to the regular style of claying.
Claying doesn't remove swirls. To get a good start you need to clay bar then polish out the swirls then apply your LSP ( Last Step Product ) preferably a decent sealant.

aunggu2002, is there any work being performed with a PC/UDM? Or is this all by hand. I hate to reveal the wicked truth, but swirls and scratches arent easily removed/reduced when you polish by hand.
I mean it can be done (I think) but its very time consuming as well as laborous.

don't do it F**KING Waste of money. i tried it twice, trying to give the product a fair chance. i applied product and rinsed then dried, ran my hand over still felt contaminants. i then tried a real clay bar, and the paint was smooth as glass, i also think it adds a little better reflection.
also i hope your not using ice as a sealant or wax, that stuff looks good but no durability whatsoever, i learned the hard way and let me just tell you anything that has turtle wax written on it...don't even bother picking it up.

once again- I had different results than others. The liquid claybar combines the paint cleaner, some abrasive power and a polish all in one. Follow it up with liquid ice synthetic wax and it looks good - from a distance
The TW lcb does state to use in back and forth strokes only. When I saw a mystery scratch on the fender recently I freaked, the tried the liquid bar- a few minutes and cleaned it off, no more scary thing on the fender!
Its not a pro level detail product like others, its designed for the quick use and it looks good. Real claybar does a different thing- it has its ups and downs too.
TW was fine for a while--- until I found Patrick and got a UDM. Now ~real~ products will be used and the car will really look good.
I was describing it to patrick as: the differance between shiny and cleeeeeeeeean~

ya shiny and clean is great way to put it, but when the product has the words clay bar on it, i except it to do what a clay bar does. turtle wax product do there job just not very durable or quality. but this product failed miserably
The TW liquid is designed for the basic home user who is just discovering some advanced cleaning and wants to do a 15 minutes full basic cleaning of the paint, and follow up with some decent liquid synthetic.
As a multi purpose product is has good and bad points. The type of person who uses it always thought just waxing once a month or 2 was great car paint care.
scatches and swirls wewre just a part of normal life and car washes.
Thats who I bought my TL from- they just waxed for 5-6 years
As I said before- TW was fine for me until I started getting info from Patrick, and met desper in person. He saw me using some auto show stuff on the car, got out his kit of claybar and multi bottles of stuff. Thats was the first time I ever used claybar- and I am 48! It took well over 15 minutes per panel to use manual claybar.
For the average home user- the basic auto parts store customer- thats TW's target market. For ziners who are totally into showing off the car at shows/meets and have an understanding at a scientific level of the various products, its not going to work to your standards. For my s'box 1980 truck and camper, they pull off the ~illusoin~ of clean and painted. It did restore the 1972 campers shine.
The UDM wont work on the odd corragated shapes of old days- works great on modern flats.
The ol rotary buffer is used for the camper now
So IMO the product is good for a certain market segment- we are not part of that market.
Hooray for Patrick!!- I would not have advanced in this field of knowledge without his website and personal help.
Other sites may save a buck on purchase but cant match the service. It cost money every month for our vendors to be on azine- thats how azine is free to its members. Support or sponsors whenever possible
