Touch up paint

My baby got her first paint chip the other day . Picked up some touch-up paint from the dealer today and am wondering what's the best way to fix up the chip. The paint chip is small, about the size of a match head and is down to the next layer. Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there a clear coat or something I should put on top of the touch-up paint once it dries?

Thanks all.

Paint chip repair

[Here’s a fix for the chips. Take isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip and dab in only in the rock chip or scratch a few times. Take a clean towel and dry the paint chip. Take a match out of a matchbook. Use the opposite end of the head. Dab this in touch-up paint. (Do not thin out touch-up paint) Very carefully dab a very, very minute amount in the chip. Do not get any paint anywhere other than the chip depression. The trick here is not to try to fix the chip in one application. Do this every day until the paint in the chip is even with the rest of the paint surface].

A lot of times the included brush is too wide I will take a $$ store artists brush and cut it to a taper and use that or break off a round tooth pick.

I think the custom color pens {inc clear coat} are about the best way to cover small areas like chips and dings.
They prevent it going on to thick, wide, and strong.

If your dealer is anything like mine, make sure you bring the VIN or the confirmed color code or they won't sell it to you. As mine wouldn't, it sucks too cuz the only Acura dealer is clear across Tucson from my place.
