Swirl Remover?

Most, if not all of you have owned an Acura/Honda at some point. And as most of you know, the paint is just shit. The tiny swirls bug me to no end whenever I wash the car, and I'm guessing more than a few of you feel the same way. I'm just wondering if any of you guys have tried swirl remover to try and get rid of them. Does it work? Not work? Not worth it?

Nope, not yet. I'll try to get some. They're not anything big, just really annoying to look closely at the light. once you get about 4 or 5 feet away they disappear and the car is stunning.

In reality the paint isn't shit ..its how the paint is treated that causes the issues.

Yeah, my guess is many honda owners take their cars to the car wash. I find the paint on my acura to be very good.

Probably, but you have to admit the paint is relatively weak compared to other makers. I don't take my car to the car wash for this exact reason, but the previous owner did plenty of times according the swirl marks. I just want to find out a way to get rid of them.

I won't admit that, paint holds up very well if it's cared for properly.

You'll need a DA machine, PC is the best for beginners, compound, polish and some pads. There's plenty of info in this forum describing what products to use and how to use them. Search around and do a little research, all the answers are here.

Oh, and if you have specific questions about your paint, it's best to post some pics.

At least admit that it doesn't hold up to abuse as well as it should. Don't get me wrong I love my car and it still looks great when clean, but honestly my Cavalier's paint wasn't as swirly.

No idea what a DA or PC is, or how to use pads or any of that stuff. I'm new to washing a car with more than a rag and soapy water (which still produces a good result)

I'll admit Honda/Acura paint is not the best in the world. Truthfully, I see more Hondas, Acuras and Toyotas with severe oxidation issues then any other make.
DA= Dual Action (Orbits and spins on an axis. Sort of like circles withing circles)
PC= Porter Cable, perhaps the safest machine for car care and surface care.
As for "rag and soapy water"........lets not ever mention that phrase in here!! LOL
One of the first things you need to decide about swirls, is.......do you want to remove them, and avoid there proliferation in the future?

My suggestion....

Have a professional get rid of them for you. After they're gone, just do your best to maintain the finish by practicing good washing and drying methods: 2 bucket system, sheepskin mitt, clean microfiber cloths, etc.

I've got the microfiber cloths, do the 2 bucket system sometimes. I can get the mitt anytime.

Thing is past experience has told me not to trust ANYONE with my car.
My mechanic for the cav cracked the rear door skin when knocking out a dent, used duct tape to change a taillight bulb (which has since burnt out) and always puts waaaay too much oil in. Also put in some new brake pads that have shown a distinct increase in brake dust.

If you think he's just a coincidentally shitty mechanic, the Honda dealership had many problems with the repair of my driver's door and mirror. After I inspected it, I see a driver's mirror that's popped out, with VERY messy adhesive. My mom wanted a scratch on the passenger side molding fixed and they smeared the paint and left some tape on. Kinda sloppy IMO. Full Serve gas station workers can't twist the cap on all the way. One even left the door open.

And that is why nobody touches my car.

The option then is to buy a PC and the equiment and do it yourself .. cuz they aren't going to go away on thier own.
