Swirl removal question

I have some swirling on the shiny black exterior door pillars of my RLX. I was wondering if I am able to use a polish with an orange cutting pad on my PC7424 to remove them? I suspect I can, but wanted to confirm before I do more damage than good.

I also noticed some swirls on the faux wood centre console - would applying polish by hand on that help?

I just ordered some Four Star Ultimate Scratch and Swirl Polish, a B&S microfiber cutting pad, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 and Chemical Guys Second Skin 6 Hybrid vehicle coating and looking forward to claying the car and getting to work.

Any tips/advice would be appreciated.

for the exterior door panel; always always always use the least aggressive pad and product combo that you have.
then, if it's not cutting it, step it up to a more aggressive pad/product combo

Agree with Justin. Least aggressive first. When you start with orange, you may be causing yourself more work. Test spots are important to check this out.

Granted, it's just the pillars, so it won't be that much more work. Different story if you're doing the whole car.

As far as the console is concerned, night as well try a spot by hand and see how it turns out. If it looks better, finish it.

Good luck.

Orange isn't aggressive at all ... I use it on every color including black .. Polish I use with it is Optimum Polish 11 .. If you experience any marring with an orange pad then your polishing till your polish is dry or your not keeping the pad clean or changing it often enough. Anything less than orange and all your doing is jeweling or if correction is required your wasting your time.
