Stained Manifold Cover HELP

I cleaned my engine yesterday using APC+. Everything was fine until I hosed it off, and now my manifold cover looks all messed up. Engine was still a little warm, could that be the cause?

Any ideas on how to remove those spots besides getting another cover?

I've tried using polishes and it made no difference.

Here's a picture of what it looks like now!

You may want to ask this question in the Wash and Wax section.

Since that's an all purpose cleaner it most likely damaged the clear coat on the paint. I doubt you will be able to get that off unless you try finishing compound or maybe lightly sand and polish.

Thanks for the recommendations and moving the thread to the appropriate section. I'll probably spray it a different color then.

Thanks again.

Before you do that try wiping it down with rubbing alcohol.

try some metal polish in a hidden corner, that might do it! Or better yet, try some vinegar in a corner to see if it helps out and doesn't make things worse

I've already tried using metal polish, it didn't seem to help. It seems like its embedded into the thing. Nothing seems to help it.

Thanks again for the recommendations. I might just spray paint the sucker.

First I used Aircraft paint remover to strip it.
After it was nice and clean, I sprayed engine primer.
Then, sprayed it with the color. Did 2-3 layers.
When that was dry, I used a dremel to take off the paint off the words.
Sanded them down with 1000 grit, then 1500, and 2000. Finally polished it with metal polish.

And thats the end results.

Cool. I think there's some household product you can use on the letters to avoid getting paint on them, but I've forgotten. Glue?
