Spray Wax advice!!

Hey guys,

I have an 07 TSX (Carbon Gray Pearl), and I am looking for a long lasting spray wax that I can apply in direct sunlight. I'm looking for something that has some durability, but also makes the pearl in my paint "pop"

So far, I've looked at Duragloss Aquawax, and I've also looked at Optimum Spray Wax. I'm not sure if either of these can be applied in direct sunlight though.

If someone could give me some suggestions, that would be great!

Thanks much!

Neither are substitutes for conventional sealants or Nubas. But............when used with frequency, then can provide protection for your vehicles surface.
You can use them in sunlight, just go over smaller areas, and use a dampened MF to avoid streaking.

Is Spray wax "That" much easier or is it marketed because it removes the exercise from doing something?

I just find it easier to go over the car with spray wax after washing it. I still use a conventional sealant - Four Star UPP, and then after every wash, I use spray wax...

Has anyone used DG's Aquawax? I've read that you can spray it on the car after rinsing it, then dry the car and "wax" it at the same time... I'm thinking about picking some up...

You can spray spray wax on a clean SOAKING WET car and dry it with a chamios and it'll give it a lil more shine. But for starters never wash a car in direct sunlight & dont spray spray wax on any panel of a car that is hot to the touch or in direct sunlight. Spray wax is more or less designed to remove finger prints on nicely waxed cars and spot cleaning. If you cant wash your car in shade after its dry park it somewhere for awhile till it cools down then spray wax it but it takes just as long to polish or wax it and spray wax is not a replacement for the real thing

I agree guys!

I just laid down a coat of Duragloss #105! I love that stuff. It goes on and comes off easily, and it gives a good shine!

HOWEVER, I do have some bug gut remains on the front of my bumper... I have a 3M Clear Bra on there, and I wanted some advice on which product to use to remove them? I did clay bar it, and that helped, but I still have some remains....

Can I use Stoners Tarminator to remove them? It states that it's "clear coat" safe, and will NOT harm vinyl...

Lastly, can I top my DG 105 with Optimum Spray Wax after 24 hours?

Thanks much guys!

I've always used Meguiars spray wax with good results. Since I have no shade near my house I'm constantly washing in the sun. Some advice I got from a detailer to avoid streaking, swirls and what not from direct sunlight is spray waxing when the car's still wet like some others mentioned.

I agree with that!

Also, I think he may have got the uses between a spray wax and a quick detailer mixed up. I don't think you should use the spray wax for any spot cleaning. Any type of spot cleaning should be done with a normal wash (or ONR) or a QD depending on how bad. I wouldn't use the spray wax (or any wax) to try and remove anything. Use the spray wax only when the car has been properly cleaned.

I use that or meguiers-I use it after every wash but not in direct sun. Usually wait for the shade or in the garage

Mequiars Ultimate Quick Wax is probably the easiest product Ive ever used and it looks better than more expenses waxes I've bought. My primary use is as "booster" during the winter months. I've learned you don't have to splurge to get products that work very well.

I'm not super anal about detailing like I was in me younger years. I only get the urge to do a full wax-on, wax-off maybe twice a year if my vehicles are lucky... so to get off water spots and for a general spit-shine after washing I use Lucas Slick Mist with microfiber towels from the dollar store - on the paint, chrome, glass, wheels - all over really. Works wet or dry, in the sun or not.

I like Eagle One Nano Wax it works great, I know its definitely not as good as conventional waxing but with a 2 1/2 year old running around definitely dont have time for a real waxing so spray wax does a decent job for now.

Just in case OP is still interested: I just used Optimum Car Wax Spray by OPT (via Amazon) on three different year (2007,2008,2012) non garaged cars. Application with microfiber tower was a cinch. Finish felt glass smooth but 2007 still rough without using claybar. No streaking, no buffing required. After three rainstorms, beading, especially, sheeting were still consistent. OPT states good for 5 months.

I previously used Turtle Wax spray. Optimum Car Wax spray feels noticeably thicker and more substantial.

Twice as expensive though.

My favorite spray waxes in order of preference:
  1. BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Polymer Spray
    • Super slick finish that helps minimize dust accumulation.
    • Long lasting protection. Perfect for use after car wash.
    • Leaves a wet looking finish.
    • Easy application with no streaking. Critical for dark colored paint!!!
    • Does not smell very good.
  2. Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant
    • Leaves a very glossy and wet looking finish.
    • Long lasting protection.
    • Smells like old socks.
    • Does not streak.
  3. Optimum Car Wax
    • Streaks too much. I have tried every application method I can think of so I now just use it for my wheels.
    • Outstanding protection for a spray wax.
    • Super slick finish.
    • Smells really good.

I've had excellent luck with the Griot's Garage Spray Wax lately.
