A Sheep Skin question

I'm looking to order a sheep skin mitt (my first...I know I know I should have gotten on a long time ago) from an on-line retailer.
Either Autopia, Griot's Garage or Excel Detail.

My questions are:

1. What is the "life span" of a sheep skin mitt?

2. Can the real deal be washed?

3. Is there any noticeable benefit of a real sheep skin mitt over something like the Meguiars Ultra Plush Wash Mitt?

Thanks

I have the one from Excel and its fantastic. I just ordered a second one recently. My other one I've had for over a year now and its still as good as new.

I've ordered one in the past from Autogeek and after a few washes it started to fall apart on me. They even sent me a replacement and that one also started falling apart.

If by question #2 you mean can it be thrown in the washer? I wouldnt, just rinse it out by hand with water after your done using it, wring it out and let it dry...

I suggest autogeek.net's ShMitt. It's made of the same foam that the Edge2k pads are made of, so it actually allows the contaminants to flow through the mitt rather than be rubbed across the paint. likewise, the foam has an extremely long life span. you should check it out.

Ive tried several wash medias, exception being the Schmit thing. I keep coming back to sheepskins. Maybe Im just use to the natural softness they provide. They do lack that synthetic durability though. As Joe stated, some last a very very long time.....Ive just never found anything quite so gentle to the surface. JMO.
