Scratch removal kits

Hey there all, I'm pretty new to this forum and don't have much knowledge about detailing so please bare with me.

I have a few small scratches on my car, pretty minor not too deep. I was just wondering is there a scratch removal system that is recommended over all others? I've read that quixx paint scratch removal is good, but I wanted to get some other opinions.

Also, i've been reading around some threads and noticed that some people have been trying out paint sealants. My questions is, does paint sealant have to be put on after waxing or is it more like a wax replacement? Also what is a recommended paint sealant?

Lastly I've read some people saying that rinsing with a 50/50 water/IPA mixture before apply the sealant is good. However I have no idea what that means, how do you mix this together and what amount is good?

For the scratches, just use some rubbing compound and a washcloth and wipe in circles. Rinse off, and you're good to go.

I have no idea about the other stuff; good luck!

Here is a good link on scratch repait if they are deeper

Fix scratches

A sealant is a synthetic protectant and replaces the wax .. it will give longer protection along with the shine.

A couple over the counter ones that come to mind are Duragloss #105 and NXT 2.0.

The reason for a wipe ( not rinse) down prior to a sealant is sealants like a clean surface to bond to and the 50/50 water/IPA mixture does that.

You can also use cleaners like Klasse All in one or Optimums PoliSeal as a prep.

are rubbing compounds the same as polishing compounds? I've found a few products that I think might help but i'm not sure.

-Meguiars M105,
-3M fine-cut rubbing compound
-menzerna super intensive polish (menzerna is quite pricey)

Which of these products is better for smaller scratches, or if none what product is good for small scratches?

Those are more for machine use and using them by hand won't let them do thier job properly.

Rubbing compounds the same as polishing compounds.. those are pretty loosely used words and can get you in a $hitload of trouble.

You start using the wrong prodyct and the wrong applicator (wash cloth) and your going to end up with marring on top of the scratches that you can't get out.

If you don't have a PC and pads then stick with something like ScratchX and follow the instructions provided.
