Scratch Removal

I bought a 2007 Royal Blue TL about 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it. I have been very cautious about where I park it so that I can avoid the little dings that happen in parking lots. I still notice where I have picked up little scratches that only I will probably notice. These are not deep at all and may be where my wife hit her purse on the side while getting in or something like that. Is there a product that you guys would recommend to remove them?
Also, I paid for the paint protection from my dealer and I have found a couple spots on the trunk that appear to be acid rain damage that probably happened on the dealership lot. I believe that the spot is under the clear coat since I cannot feel it. Looks like a water spot that wont come off. Since this was done before the protection, is it still covered. Is there a way to get it out?

Thanks and I apologize if this is a repeat question but I am fairly new here and did not spot it right off when searching.

Usually purses and a little dust will make scratches .... give ScratchX a go .. should work if your patient.

As far as the paint protection ... its pretty much a money grab from the stealership. On a new car I do the same of not better protection by just applying a sealant and its $100.

I'd get to the dealer asap with it and it will be interesting to see how they honor it .. make sure once its fixed up that you keep track of the spots to see if they come back because that may use a glaze with fillers and seconf time around tell you the coverage is a once only per issue thing.

I bet when the salesman sold you the protection he pushed it as a save all .. never have to wax again .. and if it was there before the protection it should be covered ... you didn't pay for a flawed car.

So can they even fix this without sanding it down and repainting that section? Is there a polish or something that can penetrate the paint?

Usually water spots just etc into the very top of the clear coat and they should be able to buff the spot down then reapply your "special coating"

Check out Quixx repair system. If you can't catch the edge of the scratch with your fingernail, then this product should fix it. It was rated #1 scratch repair system in Consumer Reports. exceldetail.com sells it (Pat's one of our AZ vendors). Or you can find it at your local Pep Boys / Wal-Mart. It's kinda pricey though - $15 for the kit. But you can do probably 20 or so minor scratches with it.

If you have a UDM / PC, I would say that's obviously the way to go otherwise.

Pat, I understand what you mean & respect your decision completely. I would have done the same thing in your position. However, wouldn't you say based on your personal experiences the product works well? I believe you have a DIY on your page showing your results, which were pretty amazing to see acheived by hand.

To the OP, I still suggest you give this a try if you don't own a UDM / PC.

I have no doubt the QUIXX System works quite well for longer and deeper scratches. If the scratches are minor as in this case, I would tend to use a spot cleaner/polish to correct the defect. And Patrick, I would have done the same thing - just a bitch to compete when one has assets to buy in volume.
