Scratch on bumper and part of body

Hi,

I just managed to lightly brush my Black '05 TL against a pillar in my underground parking lot yesterday. What was I thinking!! The scratch feels deep to the touch and when felling it with the nail.

Any advice on how to take care of it? This is my first car and I have zero experience working on scratches

The scratch seems to have caught some white paint from the pillar and looks worse than it probably is.

Appreciate any help on this!!

No one??

Ok I'm thinking of taking it to Maaco today to get a quote.

Has anyone worked with them before? How reliable are they?

If it's truly that deep that you can feel it with your fingernail then it may not be repairable without a repaint. Pics may help...

Also, I have personally never went to a Maaco before, but I have not heard good things about them. Could be false stories, but you never know. Best thing to do is try asking people in your area to see if they have any recommendations. You can try shopping around to different shops to see which place you like best.

I wouldn't trust any place that does not sand, prep, and spray the right way. Spend the extra money to have a professional do it to your liking. I had a Chevy C-10 Custom, painted years back and they swore they would sand and prep and paint. They didn't. Not even a year later the blue paint started peeling back in several places. The paint was so thin that hitting bugs on the freeway would chip the paint. I've heard that a very nice full paint job can cost upwards of 8 to 9 grand. a minor touch up could be a couple hundred, but you won't be mad about it later. Good Luck!

I have seen lots of Maaco jobs and not one of them would I take home .. To me the only purpose they serve is if your trying to flog your POS and want it pretty ... short term ... REALLY short term.
