Is it safe to use laundered sheepskin?

I don't know if everyone just buys new towels and sheepskin mits for every car wash but I prefer to reuse them a few times. The thing is I washed my sheepskin mits and they are no long as plush as they used to be, but I guess this could change once I soak it. After how many laundry machine washes do you guys usually get new mits??

Lastly, when I dry my MF towels in the dryer, they are all extremely staticy and I think it attracts dust to the car as I wash it. Anyone know how to prevent this? Total pain in the asphault

I actually gave up on sheepskin mitts since they don't seem to last all that long even with proper care. I might give them a shot again but considering since I use grout sponges now, it's difficult to pass up a wash media that is only $2 to replace.

As far as the MF towels go, you might be better off using less heat and only drying the towels until their slightly damp and then just let them line dry the remaining moisture.

I take my sheepskin mitts, hose them down for a few minutes to get all the soap and other stuff, out, then squeeze them to drain out most of the water, and leave it to dry on the edge of the bucket.

Ive never found a need to "launder" sheepskins. As already spoken, a gentle rinse with the hose, and your usually good to go.
MF's? remove from dryer while still slightly damp. Problem solved.

It definitely takes some getting used to Patrick! Have you tried the one from Lowe's, the Proline brand? Give it a shot if you haven't already, hehe.

I get usually better than a season out of the sheepskin mitt and I never wash them .. mind you I don't use them on wheels or for grease etc. Matter of fact the mitt I got from Patrick I have 3/4 of a season out of it and by the looks of it I'll get a good piece of next season.
I just rinse the mitt in the wash water and leave it on the edge of the pail to dry.

For the drying towels .. think of it this way .. your drying a supposedly (sp) clean car .. they won't get dirty often. After I use the towels I hang them on a line in the basement to dry then I shake them out and fold them for storage in a drawer.

When I do wash them I do them in Dawn and I hang them to dry.

You may be getting lint on the towels from residual lint in the dryer.

I did try them Denzil. Well, not the Lowes ones, I actually got the Grecian ones imported, 150 of them, lol.
I found too much water went on the ground from bucket to surface.
Theres quite a few dedicated users, Im just not one of them......
Chris started quite a following with them
I sell them occasionally, but the sheepskins far outsell the GS's. Even at $5-6-7-8.00 the sheepskins are still economical (I think)
I know your pretty anal and well educated when it comes to detailing, and the GS is obviously a good move for you!!

Hehe, well I can't pass judgement on your Grecian grout sponges since I haven't tried them!

I can say though that the GS from Lowe's are much better than the ones you can find at Home Depot. I'll give the sheepskin mitt a try again next season... actually since I'm in Cali, our season never ends!!!

Get back to me as soon as you can regarding my last email from my devilpad account so I can put together an order your way, hehe.

I like to wash my car with a MF wash mitt. Does a great job. I just wash it in the washer with liquid soap and then dry, normally in the dryer.
