I've felt for some time now that I was getting scratches while drying my car. I was fixing my clothes washer last week and noticed the sand in the filter screens.
I installed a 5micron filter in my water supply and WOW all the dirt that was caught on the way to my "clean" car was amazing. Give it a try it's scary.
