Remove Wax, Etc., To Apply Emblems?

I want to re-affix the "TSX" emblem to the trunklid of my car. Before I do that, I want to make sure all the wax, etc., is removed so I'm sticking the emblem to the clearcoat, right? What's the best product to use to remove all that wax, etc., without damaging the clear coat? Dawn? Rubbing alcohol and a microfiber? Other?

Thanks for your help!

Wax and Grease remover

First wash the area with hot soap and water. This will remove any water based contaminants that will not be removed by a solvent.

Next use a solvent based cleaner like Wax and Grease remover. Alcohol will work but you may need to do it several times to get the same quality adhesion as a professional wax and grease remover. Plus, a good solvent won't leave behind any residue. A good test is to splash some clean water on the area. Does it seem to "stick" to the surface? If it does then you are ready, wipe it off and proceed. If it just rolls or sheers off the car then you need to apply more solvent based cleaner.
