Quick Spit Shine - Ken's '97 3.2 TL (Flamenco Black)

ATTENTION!!! ATROCITIES AGAINST BLACK PAINT LIE WITHIN. THE FAINTHEARTED TAKE HEED OF THIS WARNING!

AZine legend Ken and I have been trying to schedule in some TLC for his also legendary 1997 TL for quite some time now. We finally got around to it today. Keep in mind this was a quick shine-it-up...nowhere NEAR a full correction. At this point he was only concerned about getting the horizontal surfaces cleaned up and getting some protection on the car.

We washed the car, clayed it, and I hit the hood and the trunk with a single pass of Meg's 105 and an orange pad. We then topped it off with a coat of 4-star UPP. Again...nowhere near perfection but we're going to see what else we can do in the future, including wet-sanding the headlights.

It should be mentioned that Ken is not responsible for the condition this car is in. Just FYI.

So enjoy this little mini-detail...

BEFORE - The sun wasn't out yet but you get the idea.

Hood shot.

Trunk shot...

A half/half without flash.

And the half/half with flash.

AFTER - The sun came out just in time.

The hood still has some swirls but is miles ahead of where it was.

We left the right front fender in this way to show the person responsible what a swirl-o-tron really does to black paint.

Thanks for taking a look!

Just exterior today. Andrew saw under the hood, you have to know what to look for of course, especially if you don't have a badge on the manifold

Barely.. I saw that rain coming and managed to get a tarp over it just before it poured for 15 minutes straight
