Question for NBP owners

So I know this might seem a little anal, but when I take the time to detail my 05 NBP TL I like for it to stay sharp. It usually does for the most part, but I find that the door pillars ALWAYS end up with fingerprint marks and smudges. It drives me nuts that I can't even shut my door without getting smudges all over the place. This might be noticeable with other colors, but its really bad on a dark car like this. Does anyone have tips on how to keep this from happening short of wearing gloves to close the door. Thought about getting the Carbon Fiber door pilliar covers to see if it would help. Any suggestions

Close the door with your elbow... I do this all the time.

The problem lies with the oils in/on your fingertips! The carbon fiber would add some contrast which would help though. Could always use the "handle" to help close.....

I trained my wife and myself long ago to to close the doors using the outside handles .. pushing onthe window just leaves prints there to clean up... pushing with your knee opens up the chance of denting the door.

I don't think I ever done this before. I usally just deal with finger prints, but this is pretty good deal.

Push with your knuckles on the door pillars.

I use the edge of the plastic strip that separates the door panel from the glass. All the other locations mentioned will leave a finger print.

3rd black car here..

I've trained myself and others haha over time to use the palm of my hand on the edge of the door frame at the top to close it. Works like a charm everytime.

Thanks for the advice guys. Didn't know if anyone knew of a wax or something that you could put on it to keep the smudges from being so noticeable. I've trained myself to either use the door handles or my ass to close the door. Trying to get other people to do the same is a diff story. Anyone have the CF door pilliars?? Wonder what it would look like on a NBP

Use the door handles. I've even trained my 8 year old to do it. Definitely don't use your knee or ass or any fabric that could be touching the paint. NBP scratches, mars, and swirls way too easily. Even a slight rub against the paint will cause marks that need to be polished out.

My brother has a line of dents on his sable's driver door from kneeing the door closed, I would NEVER use my knee to close a door, I usually hit the pillar or window trim with my palm very lightly. My gf will laugh at me when I pull the MF towel out and start wiping fingerprints away

NBP=Dust, Dust, Dust . I polished a day before and it back next day. It's really drive me crazy. Can we have any idea that make our cars not attracted to dust? Especially, on hot day and sunshine make worst.

Definitely use the palm when closing the door...works all the time...now the only problem is telling people the same thing without them giving you the " Are you serious?" look, haha!

Regarding the dust, it could be the microfiber towel; IMO, I think the microfiber towel leaves some negative ion to attract more dirt to the surface that it touched!

I have black door edge protectors.

I push on those to close the door.

I put them on myself when the car was new. As they are the same color as the doors, they are almost invisible. Available everywhere.
