Proper way to remove Zaino??

Ok, Stupid question.

What's the proper way to remove Zaino??

I mean when you put it on, you put it on up and down on the sides, and from the front of the car to the back when your doing the hood, bumper and trunk, but to remove the stuff do you do it the same way (up and down on the sides, and front to back on the front and back)? Previously i've not followed that approach and I have left a nasty swirl effect that was next to impossible to remove (anyone have any tips on how to remove the nasty swirl affect). Also if you follow that approach (up and down, and left and right removal of Zaino) you run a risk of leaving horizontal, or vertical (on the side of the vehicle) streaks on the vehicle.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated (You figure I have used Zaino for as long as I have, yet I stll don't know how to properly use it :p)

Also if I recall correctly you are supposed to mist the Zaino (Z2/Z5 w/ ZFX) on the vehicle w/ the Z6 spray and then immediately remove the Z2/5 mixture (of course after the 20 minutes has passed and the mixture is dry), but I don't find any mentioning of this in any of Sal's new instructions.

1 - i use eliptical patterns to remove . . . the swirls are not from the pattern, but from the material and pressures used to remove it . . since zaino contaions zero abrasives, it cant cause swirls. but bad materials used to remove can . .. get top notch cotton or better yet - microfibre . . .

Im sorry - I dont quite understand the second question. are you talkng about a quick Z6 spray down of the car before applying zaino? sure yo ucan - many do it . . ( i dont) - i just do it inbetween multiple coats and definitely after the last one. If you do "pre-spray" the car with Z6 - wipe it off like a normal application. Does that address what i think you are asking?

Homer2,
Thanks for the reply, I actually always use 100% Cotton Towels (Field Crest mainly, Made in USA). About the second question, the Zaino is already applied, it's just in the process of removing the dried Zaino, do you mist it with Z6 first then remove the Zaino with the misted Zaino? Does that explanation sound a little better? I love this stuff, but I feel applying it (and now removing it) is an art form which I have yet to learn fully.

Go do some reading on Zaino Brothers website...Sal clearly states the application and removal process. If you do not find what you are looking for, email them they will get back to you.

I’ve always used 100% Made in USA cotton towels like Sal Zaino recommends.
Recently I bought some of those MicroFiber cloths to try, but I haven’t done so yet.

I E-Mailed Sal about them and he said to exercise caution.
He said the quality control of the places that make them is bad.
You never know what quality you’re getting even if it’s from the same vendor.

Check out Page 2 & 3 of this thread:

From Mr. Sal Zaino himself……….

Unfortunately, the jury is still out on them..... Some of them I tested are excellent and do not scratch... however some are terrible and definitely scratch. The quality control of these products from overseas especially Korea is not consistent. So you never know if they will be the same scratch free quality...
(Even when using the same brands, I found the quality to be inconsistent.)
It's a shame because I think the concept is excellent...
For now I do not use them on my paint.... I'm still lab testing...
Stay tuned..
However they are excellent for glass and other cleaning areas...
Again, I just don't use them on my paint.

NOTE: If you are already using microfiber towels, look carefully at your paint finish under fluorescent light when you are using your towels. If you are not getting any swirls or fine scratches, from the microfiber towels then you are okay and can continue to use them... Remember it's better to be safe than swirly.

Sal

Best way to test out MF towels is to do the CD test.

1) Take an old CD and wipe across the disk a few times with the MF towel
2) Hold it up to the light
3)Do you see scratches?
4) If yes, discard towel, If no enjoy using them
5) Buy another brand
6) Repeat steps until you find one that doesn't scratch
