Porter cable DA polisher?

So awhile back I bought a cheap harbor freight polisher

http://www.harborfreight.com/7-inch-...:referralID=NA

And I'm kind of a novice detailer. Anyways been reading around some and have read a lot of people say only to use a DA polisher not the cheap harbor freight ones because its easy to burn through the paint. Anytime I use it I'm always keeping it moving not sitting in one spot just curious if getting something like the Porter cable DA polisher is worth it or necessary or is the harbor freight one sufficient ?

the ease of use and the ability to NOT burn through paint is why I bought my PC7424xp.

I suspect with the cheap polisher you bought, there is a HUGE learning curve...in order to correct paint.

with the PC7424, I was able correct paint on my first try!

Not only can you burn the paint but unless your very skilled with it you can end up with holograms from hell that are tough to get out.

If your car is a medium to light color you may not be noticing the holograms.

PC is the only way to go.

Why won't the PC burn the paint and the other one will?

it is the way that the machine is designed to spin. whereas an orbital just twists in one circular direction, a DA=dual action, where it jiggles and telescopes... i'm sure someone else can explain better..

Well if that's the case then $118@Amazon for the correct tool is pretty cheap IMO.

No... the one you have is called a rotary and it runs in a forced circular motion... the PC is a random ortbital which does just that ...
