2 Orange cutting pads - $15
2 White polishing pads - $15
2 Black finishing pads - $15
4 Terry bonnets - $10 the Terry bonnets will fit over any of the dry pads

Total cost for pads $70 plus PC from Lowes $93 = ~$163

OK. Im going to Lowes tommorrow and buying the PC.

Im gonna practice on my moms black altima that has swirls that i havent been able to get out before. Hows this list to tackle it.

wash
clay
wash
Poorboys SSR2 with a white polishing pad
Klasse AIO with black pad
topped with s100 by hand

Hows that sound. The pads are confusing me right now. Now if the SSR2 with white pad didnt work, should i then try an orange cutting pad? Im just scared to start out with orange and ruin somthing.
Also what speeds do you guys run the PC at for all this.

I have my first job with a black audi a4 this coming up weekend, so i have 7 days to learn all this.

I like the LC pads. That's what I have, 2 of each of the white and black. Be careful with the orange pad.

My philosophy is always start with the least aggressive pad. White first, if you're not happy, switch to orange.

Nice choice on the Menzerna, but remember that stuff was made for rotaries so you'l need high speed on the PC to raise the heat a bit ... I ran Intensive Polish with a light cutting pad on 6. Final Polish II with a finishing pad on 5 1/2 then hand applied FMJ. You'll get a bit of dusting with the IP, I did a quick rub down to get most of the dust off before moving on the FPII.

My biggest prob was moving the PC too quickly at first .. slow down and let the machine do the work, nice thing about a PC is its ALMOST impossible to do any damage.

Let us know how things work out!

Thanks guys for the help.

I already have few volunteers to let me use their car to practice on. How nice of them to let me do their cars for free. hehe.

AIO should be put on with the white polishing pad; Id use the white for the Intensive polish also. If it doesnt cut enough, then try an orange, or yellow pad. Then follow with the FP on a white pad. The black pad has no cutting or polishing characteristics. Its more for the last step protectant like Klasse SG, S100, FMJ, etc.

I should be doing a full detail on my ride soon. Have some Poorboys SSR 2.5, and SSR 1 on order with some new orange and yellow flat pads. I'm gonna follow that with AIO, and havent decided what I want to use to top it off.

I am newb when it comes to PC usage, but trust me it is reaally easy to use. To get myself comfortable with the ins and outs of the pc, I practiced on the washer and dryer with the polishing pad that comes with it. Also once I started using it on cars, I started out with glazes like Vanilla Moose. Glazes are good to start out with, just to get familiar with the tool. With polishes you need to get familiar with the product and how long it should be worked in, etc.

Don't overthink it, you'll be fine .... just make sure that the pad is sitting on the car and you have a good grip on the thing before you turn it on ...

Give your dry pad a spray or two of quickdetailer and then a little of the product. I put four "dots" (about the size of a dime) at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. With the PC off, smear it around a bit on the section your going to do, then place the pad down on the panel and go for it. Keep the speed slow to spread the product and then crank it up to do the actual work. You only have to use the QD before the first panel, after that the product will keep the pad moist.

Let us know how it turns out!!

LOL. I felt the same way at first. Now I have no problem using it at 6 depending on the product I am using. Just work your way up slowly, and start with the softer pads 1st which wont do any cutting.
