New Wheel Cleaner

So, since purchasing a BMW (the brake dust from the stock pads is horrible), it seems I've been on a constant search for a better wheel cleaner. I'd been using Sonax for the past couple of years and then got introduced to a new product through one of my friends in the local BMWCCA Chapter - https://www.wheelybrite.com/

Okay, a bit of a goofy name, but I tried it this last weekend and it was much easier to use and more effective than anything else I've tried in the past. I generally don't go around offering testimonials on products, but I'm really impressed with this one.

Thank you for that

Have euro and Brit cars , dust is a huge problem for me. I have been putting a layer of wax on the wheels so it's easier to clean

I will try this new product you recommended

Thanks !

Kind of wondering how often people wash thier wheels to have brake dust become an issue. My pads dust like crazy and weekly washing requires nothing more than the normal car wash soap on any of my cars.

I usually try to wash my car weekly. That being said, since I've owned BMWs, my wheels are usually visibly covered in brake dust withing 2-3 days. Their stock pads are awful in terms of dust.

Unless the dust is left for long periods and subject to moisture nothing more than the end of the car wash soap should be needed to clean them. Most wheel cleaners can be aggressive and also remove any wax/sealant on them. Brake dust once wet can become acidic ..

Interesting. Can you post pics of before and after using that product? Been using Sonax full effect and I'm always happy with the result.

I also echo jesstzn.

I wash my vehicles every week and even with just a simple spray of the garden hose, most of the brake dust comes right off.(of course, ive waxed and sealed the wheels)

the only time Ive needed a sonax like cleaner was when I washed a car that hadnt been washed in over 4 years.
CAKED on brake dust.

If that works for you, great. Save some $'s. Clearly, it doesn't work for everyone.

Sorry for the delay in getting these to you; life's been a little busy.

Below is a series of before, during and after shots. All of these pics show a spray and rise process only. I habitually wash the wheels again with soap and water and a soft wheel-brush as well to get anything the wheel cleaner didn't get for me. None of the pics below are after I've scrubbed at all.

I think Jesstzen and crabs are missing the point.

This is a non rinse cleaner. Just spray and whip.

Also, chances are it can work as a non scrub spray as well. Just spray, let sit, then rinse.

It is simply easier and faster and what it does.
