Navi screen cleaning

Well, while Zainoing my TSX yesterday, I was also wiping down my interior with my microfiber towels. I've always had trouble cleaning the navi screen and usually used toilet paper as it's pretty soft and did the job, but often not too well. So when I was wiping the interior, I wiped the screen with the microfiber and OMG....it cleaned off all the fingerprints so unbelievably quick. Give it a shot. I figured out my problem now. Now I can keep the screen clean.

You know, normally you can't even get DUST off that screen!

It works, if you can find a store that sells those damned cloths.

I went to three grocery stores before I found a nice cloth at Albertson's. :'(

Used it today and it does the job perfectly.

I don't know if this is the same as a microfiber cloth, but I use a sunglasses-cleaning cloth that I picked up at Sunglass Hut at the mall. It removes fingerprints and dust.

I also have a small package of antistatic screen wipes (from Staples) in my car. They work well for cleaning, but I follow up with the sunglasses cloth to get rid of any fibers left behind.

according to the RL write up on the nav system... you can avoid cleaning your nav system by not touching the screen by just breaking the infrared sensor surface by getting close to the screen with your finger but without touching the screen. I wonder if this is true for the TSX?

This is not true. I don't have the time to provide the specific pages in the shop guide, but all new Acuras use screens that must be touched, they do not use the infrared screens anymore.

Sorry.

From p. 22-319 of the '04 TSX Shop Manual,
LCD Display Unit Limitations:

The touch panel consists of a touch sensitive resisitve membrane covering the display. Unlike previous systems, you must actually "touch" the display to activate it.
Emphasis mine.

Hope this helps.

I picked up a 5 pack of Microfibre towels at the local Wal Mart in Piscataway, NJ. These had good write ups on Autopia.
