Meguiars NXT - tried it

Just a quick note about NXT. Tried a free sample this weekend and I must say the results are impressive. The product is very easy to use and the finish came out smooth and very glossy or wet looking. Did the whole car except the front bumper with one ounce. Stuff even smells nice - like pineapple.

I usually use P21s products on the CL but I wanted to give the car a quick coat of wax.

I liked NXT initially, but didnt care for the durability. Easy to use, and has that addicting smell......

Excel, can you elaborate a little bit about the durability of NXT? I've used it a around 8-10 weeks ago and the water still beads on my car. How long should one expect a coat of NXT to last?

My initial application of it, on white, with proper paint cleaning, did not yield the best of results. Maybe I was expecting something out of the ordinary with it, but I didnt get any longer then 6 weeks. Mind you it was also during the hottest time of yr. I dont really use the beading as a factor, I more or less use slickness. Beading is fine, its indicating the presence of something on the surface. As for the level of protection its representative of, Im not sure.....Thats just my judgement criteria......Naturally, observations and results vary.

I NXT'd my car back in mid-May, and water still beads very well on my car. However, my car is always garaged at night, and I've only driven it ~400 miles. My car does bake under the sun in a parking lot quite often during the day though.

However, the "slickness" that exceldetail talks about was gone in like 2 weeks? It was rather dissappointing.

Let me re-state....My initial impression, was good. nice and slick, easy to use...But as Penguin stated, slickness diminished rather quickly, 2 weeks. This was my exact experience......After 6 weeks, there was nothing remaining. I have yet to use it again. Forever dedicated to using UPP and BF, EX-P....(But am currently experimenting with Clearkotes Yellow Creme Wax to kill the curiosity)

I encountered the same thing with durability. After a few weekly washes, slickness drops off quickly. It is a very easy on, easy off product that looks good with a single application.

excel, after experimenting, post your comparison and opinion on the Clearkote against UPP.

First impression Haw, another EZ on, easier off product. No dusting whatsoever, and a very warm glow to my Sandalwood metalic.....Very crisp reflection, non irritating, almost neutral aroma, slight hint of petroleum though.

I should have used a foam applicator but opted for a readily available MF applicator. MF applicator has a little more bite then a traditional foam app, so it took a little umffff to spread it around.

Hazed up after about 10 minutes, and left a very slick, almost velvety smooth finish. The daybefore I used some Moosewax to help clean up the surface. Its fairly swirl, mar free, so I applied both products byhand. Im usually a PC addict with products, but this time i went for it by hand......(Now I know why I love my PC)

The UPP is a different beast altogether, one of the easiest products I use. And as user friendly as any Nuba you can find. UPP has always provided great depth, and very crisp reflections, never muted or distorted. Durability has never been a factor for me in the Ca. sun. And Im very critical of durability.
During the week, I will apply UPP to roof and doors, and have a better side by side after 4 weeks......I used the Yellow Creme Wax on the hood and front fenders only......Good idea though Haw!

Thanks excel, kinda OT - My nephew got me a 4oz squeeze bottle (about hafl empty), something called "Butterwax" from the detail shop at the local BMW dealer. He said they used this exclusively on all the cars. Any insight about this product will be appreciated. Haven't tried it yet, though.

Anyone try putting another coat of wax after using NXT to increase durability? Will another coat of wax ruins the shine from NXT?

Tweedle, NXt has some cleaning ability. Im not sure your going to get an actual "layer", as opossed to just a more equl, evened out layer. It may actually remove some of your initial layer, while applying the 2nd.....

^^ Agreed. I'd just layer some carnuba on top, that's what I do.

Would anyone mind elaborating on the "P21" products...? I've never heard of them, but I've tried just about every wax Meguiars and I liked the Gold Class paste wax the best so far. NXT was...ok. Does the P21 products require a high speed buffer? Any info would be great!

www.p21s.com

Folks say s100 is the same product, but I use the 21. Really good stuff. I use the Paint Cleanser, too then two coats of 21. Very easy to work with. Done by hand.

P21s is a carnauba wax. S100 is so similar that it is probably the same, except that it is 1/2 the price. I would buy S100 if they sold it here, but instead I have to use P21s.

Where's here? You could probably get it at HD Motorcycle dealer or you could order it online from Top of the Line or Superior Car Care.

Hey,

I am seriously looking into NXT. They did a test spot on my car treated with Zaino ... it got rid of the swirls (which impressed me). Durability was something I've heard was a problem with NXT. I was thinking of putting on a couple coats of NXT then put on some Zaino Z2 and then Z5.

Anyone with experience with Zaino / NXT combinations? (Sorry if )

I strictly use p21s on my car also. I have tried NXT and I agree with excel, after 3-4 weeks in FL sun, and it seems like there's nothing left.
