Meguiars NXT Hi-Tech 2.0?

I know the purists are going to bash this product, but for those of you who have used this product, how is it? Seems to get some good reviews when I googled it, also seems like a simple process versus numerous coats and numerous products. Opinions please

Its an OK product for the weekend warrior .. there is other things that will do the same if not a better job .. DuraGloss #105 for example. Or Meguiars #21.

also seems like a simple process versus numerous coats and numerous products Don't let it fool you, it is a simple process and it doesn't do the job of those numerous coats and numerous products and the end result will show just that.

There is an old saying .. "You can wax dog sh*t and all your going to get is shiney dog sh*t" .. Grasshopper .. its the prep that gets you results like this.. polished out and Megs #21 ( Which is basically NXT on steroids )

I use NXT 2.0 and like it. I bought a meguiars kit for $20 on clearance that came with the 2.0 wax, tire shine gel, wheel cleaner, interior detailer, and quick detail spray wax.

I've had it on since early June and the wax is still holding up really well. You can really tell when it rains and your parked next to other cars. I wouldn't waist my money on better wax unless I had an exotic car. I just wash my car every weekend by hand and apply the wax whenever it is needed. I also apply the wax by hand and the process is simple with good results

LOL. You mention you wanted to buy OTC, so I didnt tell you about the DG 105. I used the nxt 2.0 and it's good. Now that I have other products, it's just sitting there on the shelf. Maybe I'll apply it to my mom car...

hmm..this may be a stupid question for some, but educate me pls..

what's the difference between a paint protection product like UPP or Duragloss 105 and a wax product like Optimum Spray Wax? Aren't they supposed to do the same thing, protecting the paint? What are the benefits of using one over the other?

I apply Spray Wax about twice a month now..should I do anything else just to generally keep the paint protected from environmental hazzards?
(I park my car outside)

yes, they both protect your paint. there are 2 main categories of paint protection, sealants and wax. sealants like UPP and 105 are synthetic and tend to have greater druabillity then wax. although wax doesn't last as long, some say wax looks better and adds the warm just washed look.

i use sealant for the protection and then top it with some wax to help it out and give it a nice sheen.

im not exactly sure but i think spray waxes doesn't last as long as regular paste wax. most use spray wax as an upkeep.

thanks...
so meq nxt is a sealant I guess..
but, I read that many experts are talking about removing sealants from the paint, before polishing or something? How do we remove sealants? What if it was applied long time ago, do we still need to remove it?

When I used NXTa looooong time ago, I found it to have a lot of fillers. Now, maybe they changed the formula for v2.0, but I would find that the look would wear off very quickly, 1-3 weeks, and the minor swirls (I didn't always wash correctly in the beginning) would re-appear.

I should say, though, that I live in a blast furnace so YMMV...

Chances are rather high that if it was applied a long time ago.... its long gone anyway.
When applying sealants, the preferred method is on a very clean surface. Cleaning is performed by various methods:
Paint cleansing (Paint cleaner)
Paint polishing (abrasive polish)
IPA wipedown (50/50 water/rubbing alcohol)
Dawn or dish soap wash (not preferred but recommended by manufacturers who dont make a polish capable of removing sealants) ((and my least favorite, and even less recommended)).
One could also re-apply same sealants atop previous layers i.e. UPP, wait one month and reapply.
.

If your polishing with a PC or rotary the sealant is gone soon as you hit it with the pad.
