Meguiar's No. 7 works for me...

I made the mistake this winter of using a crap load of "high pressure wax" at the self serve car wash. It left spots all over my car for more than a month even after 2 or 3 washes. A few people recommended Meguiar's no 7. I did the entire car today. Best stuff I've ever used. Spots are gone. I almost want to do a second coat.

I have not. Good stuff? Nice shine? I use their ultimate quick detailer which seems to work pretty good.

Just Megs #7?

If so, you're not done yet:

.... polish with No. 7 Show Car Glaze and follow with your favorite wax ...
It's a polish, so once you get your corrections done (swirls, spots, etc), you still need a wax and/or a finishing product/sealer.

If you like it now, you'll probably faint after a good wax.

Yeah, I figured I wasn't done yet. I don't feel like waxing today, I did in October so I guess it's about time again.

What else could I use besides wax for a finisher/sealer?

It took me almost 3 hours to do the no 7.

Looks great man. Not to derail, but is ultimate compound kind of the same thing as no.7? Both require a followup waxing amirite?

So can I use meguiar's ultimate quick detailer to kind of seal no 7? I am motivated now to finish it off (That's what she said) with anything but wax.

The quick detailer is a synthetic polymer I believe, so I'm wondering if it's better then nothing. Or would I be taking off the No 7 with it?

I think your better off using a regular caranuba wax over the quick spray stuff but I'm not an expert.

I like the Megs NXT wax. Then I'm still using 4-Star UPP for the last step product. QD is more for touch up/maint after a regular wash.

You guys need to check in at the Wash & Wax sub-forum: https://acurazine.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=23

The polish is completely removed when you're done; it leaves little or no protection. So what the OP has right now is some very nice, clean paint, but not much (if anything) to enhance and protect it.

It'll really rock with a good wax and/or sealant.

+1 Don't let that hard work go to waste by not adding a layer of protection.

Ok, I finished the job right. Though I just used a spray wax it was better then nothing. Man I would love to drop this bitch and do many more mods, but I promised myself I would not do that again to my everyday vehicle. I will wait till I can have a toy.

Almost picked one up at autozone today.

Are you saying my wax on/wax off hard work didn't pay off?

Not gonna lie, it COULD be better...

Yeah great stuff . My steps are: car wash, apply/wipe off with ultimate compound, apply/wipe off with NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0, followed by ultimate quick detailer spray and wipe off. I also switch pads when applying the ultimate compound & NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0. All done with my Meguiars D.A. polisher with different pads .

No, not all. Sorry. I think it looks GREAT!!

But I know how much hard work it is to do it all by hand. With a good orbital you can do twice as much work in the same amount of time.

Good job Rider. Glad you were able to get the water spots off. Many times, I always have to use a power sprayer for my Type S. You've just got to be careful to wipe it down right away.

Beautiful car. The last gen TL sure was a gem, especially the Type-S.

I wish. I hear it's almost impossible to find those used. People just don't get rid of em. I probably wouldn't either...

Yeah it was. I had an 03 type-S. It was in immaculate condition, especially interior. The owner before me took great care of it. It only had around 70k when I traded it in. Loved that car but was getting nervous about the transmission, so I got the 07. It was still on the lift when I checked it out.

I am amazed of the condition of this one as well. Previous owner had kids and the only way I know that is their is a divot in the back seat leather from the car seat. Other then that, it's flawless. Don't know how he/she did it...but I ain't complaining.

of course its YOUR CAR, but dude, if your not going to do it RIGHT, I wouldnt do it at all.

I would venture to say that a QD, is not nearly enough of SEALANT protection, as far as strength, longevity, and the ability to evenly cover all the paint.

Polishing your car strips the wax which is your protection, and riding around without it is well.... I dont even want to say.
Just looking out for ya and that pretty paint, its flawless, lets keep it that way.
