I don't have it yet, but I plan to be ordering it as soon as I pick up a Griot's DA Polisher. I've read some really positive reviews over on Autogeek's forum about the microfiber kit.

Unfortunately, my old PC7424 just isn't up to the task so I need to pick up a new polisher to get the full effect.

why do you say your old pc isnt up to the task...unless there is something wrong with it, its up to the task...

Nothing is wrong with it per se, but I have the original PC 7424 not the newer and stronger PC 7424XP. The Griot's Garage polisher is similarly priced to the 7424XP, but has more power so I'm looking to upgrade to it sometime soon.

The original will work (I've been using it to polish for about 7 years and love it), but will require more passes than the newer model and has a tendency to bog down under medium/heavy pressure.

I've read that the Meguiar's Microfiber system is an excellent two step system that can cut correction times significantly. Therefore I'm hoping a new polisher can cut out a few additional passes and reduce my detailing time even more.

I'm wondering why you would you get the PC before the Griot's? I love getting opinions.

I've read up on this topic quite a bit and almost everyone picks the Griot machine over the PC.

Here are some of the stats that make me lean towards the Griot's Machine over the PC:

PC
4.5 Amp Motor
500 Watts
2,500 - 6,800 OPM
3 Year Warranty
Autogeek Price - $129.00

Griot's Machine
7.0 Amp Motor
850 Watts
2,500 - 6,800 OPM
Lifetime Warranty
Autogeek Price - $129.00 (Backing Plate Included)

meguiars DA system recommends that the system not be used over 4800 RPM, so wouldnt both be adequate in that case?

im not positive but im looking into orbitals too

hoping to pick up "babys first polisher" for myself and this meguiars system seems to pretty fool proof which is good for me

Personally I think that if you want to step up from a PC to something else, it might be worth it to get a rotary and spend 100 dollars on some junkyard parts to learn how to use a rotary polisher.

Wow, Ive been removing swirls via 2 step traditional foam pads and abrasive/non abrasive polishes for years. Now all of a sudden theres something better?
Its like getting to 90mph on the highway in a Camaro vs a Mustang?
Kudos to Meg's marketing dept.

if i was going to step up from a pc, it would be a flex...it is just way to easy to mess up paint with a rotary...

Isn't the Griots machine restricted as to backing plate size and pads where the XP canuse a variety of backing plate sizes?

Troof...Thats why they used to not recommend it for Rotarys...

I personally am not ready for a rotary...I am not good enough to step up to a rotary and not destroy my paint...

A Mustang will ALWAYS go better on the highway...Everyone knows that...

I am using the 2 step as well with the foam but everyone I have spoke to has said the pads that Meguiars uses are awesome...

OK I stand corrected .. I remember in the past the backing plate wasn't interchangeable nor was a 5" available from them ... they must have changed.

That was one of the reasons thya came out with thier 3" polisher.

Me personally I feel the PC gives me what I need...I have yet to find an instance when I need more power or speed...Although I am sure the time will come when I need it...

Me either .. I have the old 7424 , one of the original UDMs that are now defunct and a 7424XP

Still use all 3 for different purposes and all do the job just fine.
