Angry I HATE birds and their Sh*t

Since new I have tried to keep my CL as clean as possible. Always park away from everyone, and try to keep it parked in the garage when im home. The other day I needed to use the garage so I pulled my car outside for the day. I guess sometime while it was out it got a nice shot of bird crap on the rear bumper. I never saw it for a few days. I then tried to clean it off as I have done with other bird crap. The problem is that this time it removed at least the clear coat if not the paint.
A friend suggested that what looks like missing paint might just still be residue, so I used my clay bar on it and I see the same thing. Its certainly damaged

Ill try to remember to post some pics of the damage this weekend, but this is more just a rant It just makes me want to get out a gun and shoot every bird I see

Maybe some day ill have the front and rear bumpers repainted. The front has taken its share of rock hits so its not looking its best.

You can try your best to avoid this situation, but it seems no matter how many coats of protectant you apply/keep on, theres always that one special bird that excreets a little more acids then the rest. I guess he picked your Acura that day.
The best preventative measure is constant protection which will only slows the process down until its recognized, all too often too late.

This is why I rinse my car off twice a week. Here is SoCal we get these little yellow bug marks all over when driving at highway speeds. So I have a regiment of doing a quick 30min wash and dry every Wednesday and Sunday morning is my mini 2hr detail. I get paranoid and nervous when my car is dirty.

Yep, when I had my Explorer, I parked near a tree, not by it. I came back out, it looked like every bird in the area decided it was my turn. :wtf: I did not even think about the birds at the time because it was so windy and cold that day (40 degrees).

It wasn't me that removed the clear, it was the bird crap. It case you didn't know some types of bird crap (especially the chucky purple stuff) is very acidy and will eat through your clear and paint.

In case you didn't know it .. I've been detailong cars longer than you have been around ... yes I know it can be acidic but in the majority of the cases it etches the clear. In some cases deep enough that its impossible to polish out. But seldom eats right through it like straight acid.

Usually the issue is amplified by the owner trying to remove it.

wisdom doesn't always come with age

I always use my meguires final inspection to soak and remove any bird crap. There is no way this would have ever harmed the paint

The reason I asked the original question, which you didn't bother to answer, is because like posted above the the person in a lot of cases causes more issues than he has trying to correct an issue. If you would have came back with a little less attitude and a response like " I used Meg Final Inspection" I would have replied saying that wasn't it then.

BTW attitude usually mellows with age ...

yeah, i have the same problem. i park in a driveway, in the open, and the birds like to use that particular area as a pooping spot ALL THE TIME! be happy that you at least have a garage to park your car in and not have to deal with bird poop EVERY SINGLE DAY like i do. and yes, i hate birds!
