Honda Paint = Time Bomb?

Honda Paint = Time Bomb?
1) What do you think?
I pretty much heard the same thing from the acura finance manager at closing with a hard sell for an expensive clear bra...
2) Indicates that the more we polish it, the sooner clear coat failure occurs. Suggesting glaze, which goes against the typical detail standard.
3) Maybe the poster is just a honda hater? What is on a 5 year old american honda might be different than new tsx? Regarding clear coat, lexus appears to be 10 times thicker than the acuras.
Got a silver tsx that seems soft, but the scratches were mostly dealer induced. I'm afraid the experts on this board have not seen too many acuras. Maybe crap paint is why we see so many riced paint jobs?

Honda paint is super soft, so having a PC around is definetly a good decision. You might not need it now, but I'd bet 20 bucks that if you don't but one, you'll wish you had in about 3 months. Get some mild products, preferably with fillers as Honda paint is soft and thin. If you can fill some of the marring rather than removing it, it'll greatly extend your time until clearcoat failure (Honda paint is like a time bomb, which is really a shame since they make great cars). I'd reccomend 1Z Metallic Polish for this. Personally, I'd skip AIO and go clay - 1Z MP - Natty's on the new paintjob.

I disagree with the poster. My wife has a 01 accord, silver, which she takes care of like shit. Never gets it washed, always has bird shit on it, will put packages on the car, etc. When washed and waxed the carstill looks great.
My daughter has a 95 civic coupe, red, same thing, treats it like shit. They both expect me to wash and wax it for them and then park it under a tree full of birds or immediate drive through muddy puddles. Again when the car is washed and waxed it still looks pretty good. Both my wife's and my daughter's cars are parked outside, mine is in the garage! ;-)
I don't know what the guy is talking about.

Take your clearbra and extended warranty and ram it up your snout.
I'm going to the lexus dealership next door, where they wash my car every week for free while I enjoy a complimentary diet coke and a snack.

Damn!
You have an acura dealer that gives you free soda and a touchless automatic wash when you are not in for service?
My acura dealership does not measure up. They "wash" the car on the lift after repair or maintainace. Seen it. Suffered from it. Don't want them touching my paint.
Acura dealership is like an airport. Lexus dealership is a fine hotel.
I'm saying lexus washed for free while i drank diet sodas, and the car looked great after 100,000 miles.
And yes, i'm working hard on the acura and it does not look as good.

The dealer has orders not to touch my car (DISO) when it is in for any reason. They put a note into the computer to not wash it after it has any service etc done to it. I remind them anyway just to be sure they dont try and "wash" it.
