Got keyed, what to do to get rid of it.

Ok so I came home for the weekend to relax and everything. Everything was cool except for it was so damn hot. I go back to the dorms every sunday but just as I was about to leave the house, I check out my car for any scratches or blemishes and such. As I was checking, I find this big ass scratch which is about 4 inches long and I was furious! I wanted to knock somebodies head off. It looked like somebody keyed my car but other possibilities came up. It might've been from a rock from the road (riverside is notorious for awful road conditions) but I thought about the possibility that it would give a rock chip and not a long scratch so this basically is ruled out but is still a possibility. Maybe somebody bumped into my car with there door since there are mostly shitty cars in the parking lot so they wouldn't care as much but again I thought that it would leave a dent and not a scratch so I'm leaning more towards somebody scratching my car. I have a clue as to who it may be since when I was leaving to get food one day with some friends and came back, some guys pulled up right next to my spot. I go to check the door if it's lock and as I was walking away, I got this feeling that they were up to no good. Don't ask why or how, I just got the feeling that something bad was going to happen. I believe it was a black car towards the older generations but as to which model or brand I have no idea. If I saw it, I probably would recognize it and take sweet revenge but I have no evidence. My other suspicion is some kid that came out of their car to attend their prom event. He drives a blue cl, doesn't seem to be modded but has a little gay sticker on the right hand side of the rear passenger seat. He goes to my hs (I'm guessing) but one way or another, I plan on taking revenge. As for pictures, I don't have any since I don't have a camera, but I'm planning to go out and take some pictures with my friends camera very soon. As for the scratch, how do I go about it and get rid of it as much as I can?

ya i'd say respray the panel aswell. Also you can try using compound to even up the paint around it. I used compound on my cadillac before when it was keyed in the winter time. And it worked out great, couldn't tell there was a scratch in it after, but also mine wasn't too deep, and my car was silver, so easy to hide scratches. i'd say if you're going to get the panel repainted just try compound and polish first to see if you can get most of it to level out

Touch-up paint, wet sand , and polish. Or respray if you want it 100% perfect.

I recommend trying the search feature as this question has been asked several times before. Depending on the color of your car I would recommend filling the scratch with paint, wet sanding it smooth and buffing it. If you cant do it yourself try a good body shop and they can do it for you.

Here is a link to a DO IT YOURSELF post on scratch repair. Hope it helps!

If you have a UDM / PC I would go the route shown in AZuser's & conan777's post (touch up paint & clear coat touch up paint, wetsand, polish, seal).

If you don't have a UDM / PC, I would check out the Quixx Scratch Repair kit (seach for it on here, it's essentially the same as above, but by hand). I used it for some scratches on my TL & my Mom's Pilot, before I had my UDM. It takes patience and work by hand, but it can be done.

Obviously it depends on your comfort level with the above methods. If nothing else, you can take it to a local body shop.

First of all, don't plan any revenge until you know for sure it was them.

There are 2 ways to fix this:
1. Get the panel repainted

or

Get some touch up paint.
FIll up the scratch until it is filled above the paint, go slow, it can take a week or two, light coats.

Take some sandpaper (not sure of the grit), and wetsand in one direction until level with the paint.

Then take some polish and get rid of any residual scratches.
