First Claying

Hey guys, I was out today and I picked up a Meguiars clay bar kit, it comes with two bars, a microfiber towel clay lube and cleaner wax. This will be my first time claying the car and I play on taking my time. I am going to wash it down with Dawn to get the wax off, then clay (iv read alot of how-to's). My question is after that, do I just need to polish/wax it? I have the Meguiars cleaner wax and a bottle of NU Finish (Orange Bottle). Or is there other things I need to do?

Skip the Dawn ok?
Just give it a good wash with a reputable car soap. You can even clay while its still wet but add some QD when your claying. Then wipe dry.
The Megs (#6) Cleaner Wax is a very generic DIY all in one cleaner/short lived protectant. Go ahead and use it to revitalize the paints depth. After your next wash (Because I dont think the wax in the cleaner/wax will last much longer) apply the NuFinish. You will find the NF will be substantially slicker, and last longer. Then use that QD after every wash, while drying. (Yes, while drying. Spray it on just ahead of your waffle weave when drying)

Ok I will skip the dawn, should I just use the NuFinish instead of the cleaner wax, and save that for after I was it next time?

No, go ahead and use the cleaner/wax. It will help bring some life back to the paint.
Exactly what NuFinish do you have? I dont want you using Scratch Dr all over the car!

If you use the cleaner wax after the NuFinish it will remove some of the NuFinish

Even vice versa Dale. The base lubes in NuFinish will remove the Nuba from #6.
I think hes best off using the polishing benefit of #6, then letting the Nubas die out, and then hit it with the NF.......

We are supposed to have nice weather for a few days starting tomorrow. So ill get it clean, then give it the cleaner wax, wait a few days wash it again and then use the nu-finish?

Ideal. You could try the NF atop the #6, but you may get some smearing, may be worth a shot though.....try it on a 1x1 area and see what happens, but my though process is such that the lubes in NF will dissolve the Nuba and end up smearing (not incurable though). Give it a shot and test my theory!

Alright so I just got done with a full detail of my car, took 4 hours haha. I did NOT try the cleaner wax and the nu finish at the same time. After an hour of clay bar and an hour of wax I had had enough lol. Im gonna was it again wednesday and NuFinish it. But anyway, claybar had great results, its so smooth its unbelievable. But it didnt completely get rid of some rail dust spot rust. How can I get rid of that?

Just keep at it. Dont rub aggressively, just keep making passes. Should come off.

White can only get "so" white. The best thing for white is enhancing the trim. Make sure you use vinyl/rubber trim products, or something like Black Wow for aged pieces..

Ill have to look into that, im considering haveing my stock rims painted black, local body shop iv worked with in the past will do it for 25$ a rim which is outstanding. I use alot of Fade To Black on the tires lol cant have them black enough, something about pure black tires is sexy

No, not at all. By all means, baby it like it was Graphite or BP! What makes those colors stand out is contrast. Its surroundings are usually lighter, thus it is in contrast to just about everything. Ever notice how beautiful white is at night? Contrast......Make the trim pieces stand out, and white looks that much better. You could literally clean up trim, on a dirty white car, and the whole car looks great. (Although not common practice).
Trim has more bling on white, tires have more bling on white, BLACK has more bling on white!

Really think that over .. to me any black rims & the black tires make the wheel well opening look unfinished .. Might as well throw a set of black hub caps on it ..

It's all about what wheels (WHEELS, people) and what car it is. Not everyone can pull it off.
