Fine Blue Clay Question
Fine Blue Clay Question
Yesterday I pulled the ride down to the clear
Dawn
MG SWR-Orange pad
Spot Med Cut-orange pad
**CLAY with TW platinum car soap and water spray
IPA to repove the clay bits
MG SWR-Orange pad
IPA
UPP and another UPP this morning
So the problem was that the clay began to literally disintegrate.
It began to leave trace pieces and specks everywhere.
Has this happened to anyone else?
The piece was about silver dollar sized and 1/4" thick
I kneaded it before beginning and it was fine for the first 1/4 of the car then it began to lose all integrity.
Any help would be appreciated.

What clay did you use and where did you buy it from? It's pretty likely that your clay did not like the solution you were using as clay lube. Perhaps you can dilute your clay lube with more water so the clay doesn't break down so much. IME, I haven't had any issues with using ONR as a clay lube with any of my clays.
I got the clay from Patrick/exceldetail.
This was the first time i had used other than QD for the lube. So i will give it a go on the wifey's car with a more dilute solution to see if it holds together better.
from excel's site
Fine Grade Clay (180 gm)
$ 21.49 Back
Great results come from fabulous products, and this Fine Grade Clay (180 gm) doesn't fall short of this expectation. One of the lowest effort, highest results products we know of. After washing your car, apply some soapy water or your favorite clay lube to the surface and gently glide the clay bar along, you'll feel the contaminants being grabbed resulting in a smooth surface, ready for polishing and sealing!
