Engine detailer spray - which one???

Hey guys,

I'm not sure what to go with here. I've narrowed it down to the following 2 dressings:

Adams in and out spray

Meguiars Hyper Dressing.

I've used the Meguiars HD, and I like how I can just spray it on a wet engine, however, I've heard a lot of good things about Adam's.

What would you all suggest? Can you apply the Adam's to a wet engine? Or, do you have to wait till the engine is dry, then spray it on?

Thanks much!

That's right, I forgot about 303 Aerospace. Is this stuff pretty easy to apply? Just clean engine, dry, then apply 303?

Thanks for this suggestion as well..

Does this work well even if the engine bay is super dirty?

I may order one right now, if it does.

No you need to clean the engine before applying the dressing. I use P21S total auto wash then dry and apply 303.

I'm a cheap ass lol
I use Megs D103 diluted 4:1 (4 parts water with 1 part APC+)
Agitate with brush, rinse off with water.
Apply 303 to necessary parts (engine bay plastics)

Zep Citrus also works @ 4:1 for engine bay, it's OTC (Home improvement stores) and CHEAP.
About 11 dollars per gallon.

I really never wash my engine bay .. I have done wipe downs pretty well every wash so it doesn't need it . Occasionally I might do a wipe down with an old M/F misted with a solution of Woolite and water @ 6:1 just to pick up dust.

I'm not a fan of spray on engine dressings as they are dirt collectors and you start a downward spiral. Same with the spray on tire dressings like No Touch etc.

I do the occasional wipe on / wipe off application of Meguiars #40 on the hoses and other rubber parts under the hood and the painted gets waxed with whatever sealant I'm not liking any more.

My under hood plastic panels are painted and they get waxed ..

I use Adam's In and Out spray. Easy to apply, and can use on those hard to reach areas. It dries in seconds, and does not collect dirt.

Example from Detailer's Domain:

Is it safe to spray out your engine bay with one of those high pressure water guns form the DIY carwash? I'm afraid I'll get something wet that isn't supposed to get wet, and ruin my engine or something :/

How do you guys clean the tight corners and dirty hoses? I can't seem to find any utensils to do the job.

Thanks.

I used EZ mini brush, and this

I suspect you can use paint brushes instead though, like the ones you find at arts and crafts stores.

+2 on the above and finish with 303 on the rubber and plastic...

there are a few critical places i look out for and you shouldn't be directly shooting high pressure water on (alternator, spark plug boots, ECU harnesses, open intake filters) you can use lower pressure and i would suggest blow drying before attempting to start the car if possible...

if you are somewhere remote like at a DIY carwash and don't have access to a blower to dry the bay before starting, i have read suggestions from others who keep the car running during rinsing of the bay... i personally have never tried this...

i use wheel brushes for the big sections, and as mike mentioned smaller paint brushes to get in and around tight places...
