when you dry your acrua with a soft towel, do you move you towel side to side, up and down, OR move it randomly?
I try to avoid leaving those spider-web like scratch on my brand new RDX...those scratches are created after washing the RDX for the first time, not sure which is the correct way to dry a car....

I use a Meguiars Water Magnet Drying Towel (waffle weave microfiber). It does not matter what direction you use. Just use very light pressure. The key is that the towel you use does not create the swirls due to the type of material. Also, make sure the towel is damp before you start to dry. A dry towel on a dry surface is trouble.
Reference this thread for drying implements. With a WW, I just lay it on the area I need to dry, and gently pull the towel to me with no pressure. The absorbency rate is something like 7:1(?). You should let the water sheet over the surface which leaves smaller residual areas making the vehicles easier to dry.
Avoid using a circular motion for drying, applying/removing polishes or waxes. Wipe/buff with a front to back action.
I use soft cotton bath towels, kept seperate from wax/cleaner products. I never use fabric softener or dryer sheets on them when in the laundry.

To help cut down on swirls use two buckets when washing. One filled with soapy water and one for rinsing. RINSE OFTEN!!! Also use a chenille wash pad and waffle weave microfibers to dry. I have found that holding the towel open and just laying it on the water works pretty good.
You will have to polish out swirls that are already there. They won't go away on their own
