Dealer Providing the Car Wash

I have been taking my car back to the dealer to get washed, simply b/c they offer me that service and it's very convenient. I get it back looking like when I first picked it up (3 weeks ago)...sleek as hell. But I still do the interior myself. I'm buying the 303 Aeropsace Protectant today because the general concensus is that it works...and works well. Same with the Invisible Glass.

Two questions though:

Do any of you forsee a problem with me getting it washed at the dealer...as opposed to doing it myself??

AND

Do any other Acura Dealerships offer this service to you guys??

1. Swirl marks.

2. Yes, but I never accept it.

What if it's hand-wash ? that acceptable ?

I gave in after they told me that the car would be "very greasy" after the job (tranny replacement)
and they assured me it's on-site hand-wash.

I was offered a car wash when I brought in my car for its first oil change. I declined. They said they would do it any time I brought it in. I like washing my own car, simply for the reasons that I know I wont scratch it or leave swirll marks and I will clean everything. To me its worth doing it myself and spending a whole 30 minutes to do it. I will wash my car untill the water and soap is cold enough to freeze and it just forms ice on the car. I have waterproof gloves that are very warm. After that I just take it to the local do it yourself car wash and spray the salt/sand off of it.

Oh by the way, where in Dumfries do you live. I think I've seen your car on rte 1 before. I am the one in the ABP with fogs, Comptech springs and OEM underbody kit. I live pretty close to Karen Radley Acura.

Yeah pretty much. Thats just the outside though. I only do the inside every other wash or when it's dirty enough. I'll spend a few hrs on it soon before the cold weather sets in and I get too lazy to wash it. It needs a couple coats of Zaino.

And that's the problem. Don't let people touch your car! (especially if you don't know what they're touching your car WITH!)

I do let them vacuum my interior, though.

I hang a sign in the front window that says "DO NOT WASH THIS CAR!!" Its the only way those goons get the message. Dont let them wash it. I've seen things at the dealer that would make you sick.

I live near a bunch of car dealers. I often see the detailers washing cars with what looks like a brush on a long stick. You can actually hear the wooden part of the brush touching the car body!

Just say no to free car washes (unless you don't care)...

First time I let the dealer wash my car, it came back with grease all over the hood, dirty windows (more than when I dropped off the car), and some oily substance on the passenger seat. Never again!

If you care about the finish of your car, don't trust the dealership to take care of it. Make sure you tell the service manager, make them write it down on the statement of work, and hang the sign in the car as well. That should cover you in case they decide to ruin your finish.

I let them do mine but only during the winter and only because its a touchless car wash. No brushes and no employee contact, its still wet just like when you pull out of the other touchless carwashes.

ONLY during the winter when its salty though. Otherwise I decline and they put a big red "no wash" stamp on the work order.

like said above its its not a brushless one or if its a hand wash job don't use it.

Must be nice. It looks like several blind monkeys washed my car when I get it back from the dealer. They miss spots everywhere and rarely touch the lower areas of the car.

i've used the dealer wash service almost everytime i go in for something. the first few times i was disappointed as they missed spots and didnt clean my rims too well...it was free so what the heck. but after getting to know the service consultants (due to console replacement) they've been doing a better job of cleaning my ride completely. i think it had something to do with them having my car for a week when they said a few days.

also, i had my ride in service yesterday for the tailight recall and when i went to pick it up they parked it in reserved parking up front next to a NSX. usually they parked all serviced vehicles in back so i kinda felt like i was getting vip treatment

so personally i havent had any problems with dealership washes but YMMV. i will continue to opt for the free wash

Can't say I've seen you Brooks, but I'll keep a close eye. I live in the montclair area. I'm usually at the Acura dealership once or twice a week because it's such a cool hang out spot!! Ha.....kidding!

And just like 'dabuda'.....i've gained a pretty good rapport with a lot of the service members and dealers....therefore i entrust them to do a good job...haven't failed me yet!

I dont mind too much I've inspected it afterwards and they've done a good job. I took my car in today because of the recall, and they washed it! I was surprised. And the funny thing is, it just started to rain.
