I'm in tenn also. I like to go night driving in the mountains. Whenever I get back from driving with my bug infested front-end I usually just goto one of those quarter car washes and spray it down so they don't bake on the next day. As far as preventing them, just use a good wax and that should help a little.

Well, it's a matter of getting them off while soft and before they eat the clearcoat... so wash as soon as possible.

Good wax job will help.

Some people (not me, so I can't vouch) actually spay PAM on their car to help mitigate the damage.

Good luck!

I've heard of using pam or wd40 too but I'm not sure if that would work. I would think since its a oil based it would collect dirt and dust? So sacrifice one for the other.

I've never had an issue with using P21S Total Auto Wash as my bug remover and degreaser. There are other products that you can use for the same purpose such as APCs and degreasers from Meguiar's and many other brand names. Chemical Guys also has a bug and tar remover that is great as well from what I hear.

Use a wet towel or blanket to soften the bugs.Just put the towel or blanket on the bugs and let it soften the bugs while you wash your wheels.

use warm-hot water then wipe with soft towel. But after just make sure your car has a few coats of wax and that should make it easy the next time there are bugs

if they get really baked on there youll need a good buffer and a yellow pad with a good heavy duty swirl removing compound.

i detailed my gf's car the other day and she has a huge fly shit stain that got hologrammed in and it seriously took over 30 minutes with ssr3 to get it out.

Do a little reading here .. "good" buffers have been discussed many times as have polishes and pads.

This thread has good info in it .

Brillo Pad

Actually dealing with love bugs teaches you that time is the key. The quicker you get them off the better so I have been in the habit of spraying some quick detailer on when i come home and wiping them right off. As for the pitting maybe 100 isn't the ideal speed if you are worried about bugs and rocks damaging your car.

i use this stuff call super clean it works very well. its a degreaser but it will not harm your paint. just remember before your spray the super clean, wet your car first and then spray the super clean. let it sit for about 30 sec and just wash your car like you normally do. it well best work if you use a wash mit or etc. you can buy the super clean atany store, like walmart, any auto store and at some super markets. hope this help because i use to live in louisiana and the bug are to.
