CQuartz ceramic coating video-Im hooked

Ok so I was poking around on the autogeek site and came across this new ceramic stuff that a lot of the pros on here have started to use in their correction posts. Id thought Id share the video and start a thread for a discussion of this product and the pros and cons "if any" behind its use.

For myself I seriously thinking of utilizing this product not only for my finish but the wheels as well.

The product as shown in the video looks extremly easy to work with and does not seem like the steps are really rocket science.

The first concern I would bring up is how to get a perfectly even coat over the surface without any rippling or lines of unevenness if you watch the video the center of the hood at about the mid point on the tape you can see how there is some slight unevenness which is where I got this concern from.. however I am pretty much liking what I am seeing thus far.

Id like to point out BEFORE the guy starts the application if you pause the video you can see the 50/50 shot of how the right side of the panel looks pretty good and has been polished and has nice shine, as he applies the product it magnifies it even more so. amazing.

let the gates open..................

idk...looks pretty temperamental. The slightest mishap with your wiping technique and it will show up in the finish. There was a very obvious defect running parallel to the tape in the panel.

Maybe some of the pros on here will chime in.

yeah thats what I noticed. But then again I noticed you are supposed to wipe it down after 25 minutes maybe the guy in this video failed to miss his ripping or mishap which we caught but that brings us to your and my point.... hmmmm def would like to hear from the pros on this.

Sorry, but what exactly does this do? Is it like a sealant/wax?

It "supposedly" lasts a lifetime, I've seen it tested to 21 months now in the US and still going strong. It sees an increase of 2 microns across the entire paintwork on a car, so I'm sure that 2 microns will wear down sometime down the line.......

Really, how so?

Ive watched a million videos on youtube with its application process, its as simple as wipe on ( after correction to highest standard) and wipe off, lets stand for 30-wipe again then let stand for 24-48 hours. Done.

doesnt seem to terribly hard.

If I invested some of the money I keep throwing at new products, I'd be rich...

ALTHOUGH there is something satisfying with having someone ask me if my 8 year old car is "new"...

Its something you have to be very precise with, basically like you cant make any mistakes.
