Bumper Dent, figured I'd check with you guys

So not entirely detailing related, but my gf backed her bumper into another car. It looks like it should pop right out, but wanted to check with some of my bro's here in the W&W forum to see if anyone has any experience or tips when popping out a dent. The bumper has a couple spider web cracks in the paint, but she's mainly concerned about the dent in the bumper. It's either Fiberglass or ABS. I was planning to jack up the rear of the car, crawl underneath, and using a 2x4 wrapped in a few towels and a rubber mallet, attempt to push the dent out. Just wondered if any of you guys had any advice. Thanks

Its more likely ABS. Its not fiberglass. As for poping it out .. no experience ther but I'd put some sort of heat lamp on it first to warm it. Just don't fry it.

its not fibreglass...you should be able to push it out, but ultimately you will need a new bumper skin and paint...say 750ish if you want to make it look right...

I'm assuming it's abs as well, not worried about making it look right, just popping out the dent. Thanks for the tip Dale, I was planning to heat it before attempting to manipulate it, great tip

Thanks guys, anyone else?

Have someone hold a hair-drier over the area and warm it up while you are working on it. Rather than use a 2x4, it may be better to try and minpulate it with your fingers so you know how far exactly and with how much force you are pushing out the dent.

PDR not an option?

I'd be worried about cracking the paint, but I guess it's a bit late for that. Only suggestion I have is be as gentle as possible. It's kinda like polishing I guess, least aggressive method first.

It's a little big for PDR, and the paint's already spiderwebbed a bit, I'm just going to heat it with a heat gun, and pop it out gently, the goal isn't to make it look new, just to make it look round again

I always wondered if these could be popped out. I see people driving down the road with big dents in the corner of their bumpers and think, I would at least try to pop it out.

Let us know how it goes
