Buff pad size/How many of each?

Hi All,

Novice here with two questions:

I have a PC 7424XP which I used only once so far. I bought the 6in backing plate with LC CCS smart 6.5in pads-(2)orange, (1)course green, (1)soft green, (1)gray/blk, (1)red, and (1)gold. I read that the PC 7424 works best with the 5in backing plate with 5.5in pads. What do you all say?

How many pads of each color does the average person need? Is my beginning set up of pads sufficient?

Please advise- Thanks in advance

The PC works more efficiently with the 5.5 pads. Since you already have the 6.5 its fine, but if you need to do some heavy paint correcting grab the 5.5 hydro tech pads from Nick at AG.

I agree. I think the best size is 5.5". However, I would stay away from the low profile pads since they have very little margin for error. Get 5.5" pads that are 1.25" thick.

i use the lake country 5.5" smooth pads...i for the most part use one white and one black per detail...but i take pretty good care of my car, and only use a decent all in one like xmt 360 with the white pad, followed by 4 star upp with a black pad....the white pad will correct most of the damage that i do over a 6 month period of washing...
