Black Magic Engine Shine

I ordered a can of Black Magic 2 in 1 engine shine from Amazon because I couldn't find it anywhere locally. As you have probably guessed, I plan on doing a light cleaning job of my '04 Tl's engine. I basically need to know what not to get wet because I opened the hood the other day and got a little worried. I don't plan on removing the plastic covers or anything, just cleaning what's visible. I also plan on using the mist setting on the Mr Clean autodry so as to not drown any engine parts. I found a review of the stuff here and liked the results

Alt, Fuse Box, Distributer cap and distributer (If you have those) - Those aer what i know of off the top of my head, Others will add more. Cover with aluminium foil or a plastic bag, but the foil molds nicely

good ideas. Would you happen to know the general area of my Distributer cap and distributer in my 04 TL? I've figured everything else out

Nope, sorry, not even sure if you have a cap on there or its direct ignition. Ask in the TL boards.

well, I cleaned the engine a few hours ago, it looks great! I would def reccomend this Engine cleaner to anyone who has a mildly dirty engine and doesn't want to scrub at all. The car started fine and ran normally.

This is how i clean the engine bay. I go to the self do-it car wash aka brown bear. Then I put plastic bags over the battery, alt, fusebox and over the eletronic connectors by throttle body. Next, I spray the carwash engine degreaser that they have at the self do-it car wash. Then I spray the crap out of it with the high pressure washer. I repeat this process twice. Afterwards, go back with the BM engine 2-1 and spray the entire engine. Go drive around for 20 minutes. go back home and use tire shine to detail the rest of the engine bay. It works good and has never caused a problem.
