Best Product to Clean Dash

What is the best product to clean and product the dash for a new 2007 TL Type-S (ebony/silver interior)? I've used products in the past that make the dash shiny, but I don't think that shiny look would look good in the TL.

Thanks!

For the dust on the dash, I only use a plain Swiffer dry duster.(Target,Walmart)

Great product.........I tend not to like a overly shiny look.

One of the more popular products is Aerospace 303. Vinylex (Lexol) and Z-10 (Zaino) are also up there along with PB Leather Stuff.

i highly suggest megs cockpit shine, or w/e they may have changed the name to. it's a little shiny at first, but if you rub some off it wont be at all. the best feature is that it will attract and conceal any dust until the next cleaning. i noticed that this works great and is highly effective.

I use a microfibre dust mitt to get the dust off and then a sponge with 303 aerospace protectant to clean the remaining residue and to protect. After the 303 dries, just wipe the excess off to reduce the shinyness.

Thats sort of my following as well. Just a quick cleaning (with water generally, or a very very light charliesoap mixture) with a MF, the a water dampened MF, sprayed with 303......

Not a big fan of armor all, but its your call. I use a mini dash sized california duster and 303 protectant on the dash. you can always dilute a water based product some if you want a more matte finish. The 303 works nicely for me and isnt to shiny, it will also get rid of any air bag show thu

i use a damp MF to clean the dash...followed by a dry MF. protect with 303...beautiful matte finish that leaves it looking like it was just off the showroom floor.

cloth damp with warm water and no lint. Is this the best way - doesn't hurt the car, right?

DN, the 303 is about he most natural look your going to find. Its pure U.V. protection, period, no frills, no grease, little slickness, little gloss, no scents, just P R O T E C T I O N .

So excel, the 303 cleaner and protectant combo is the best for dash - bar none? Is it ever too soon to use; my car's not even a year old. And does it repel dust as well as it says it does?

How are their leather cleaning/protecting products?

one more thing: is it better to 'clean' with just water and micro cloth like Paradigm does, then protect w/303, or is it better to use the 303 cleaner, then protectant?

06, I like it! A bottle of the cleaner is good to have on hand, you dont need to use it all the time, only when you need to! Thats a problem many have, they insist on using chemicals a l l the time. I use a water dampened MF on the dash and seats about 90% of the time. Most of my clients arent "slobs" they just lack an occasional "dusting" regimine. No big deal.

Its never too early to take care of. Now if you ask if its too late? Well, thats a different story eh? The 303 is not a dust magnet, theres no silicone residue remaining, its a tried and true "Protectant", pure and simple. It doesnt leave a super glossy finish, just a clean matted finish.....

303 doesn't offer a cleaner/protectant strictly for leather however a number of folks use 303 on their seats for it's protective ability. I would look at a cleaner and conditioner specifically for leather. Lexol, Zaino Z-10, Four Star, Poorboys and Megs are mentioned quite a bit here and basically comes down to a personal choice.

Check their web site for a list of retailers. Just click on the "Where To Buy" link at the top of the page. Or you can get it online at most of your online detail sites like Exceldetail, Autogeek, Autopia.

You can also find it over-the-counter at some boating supply stores.

EXCEL, so i'm safe just vaccuming, wiping with a cloth damp w/warm water, and using the 303 protectant? No 'real' need for the cleaner, right? How often do you recommend doing this wipe/protect on dash? Depends on how clean i keep it?

Do you know whats been used on it before? If not, start with a clean dash, use a little diluted APC or woolite to get it clean. Get another microfiber, run it under the sink water, fold, wring all the water out, unfold. Give a few spritzes of 303, fold, and wring again to disperse the 303 throughout the towel, unfold, give a few more spritzes and the wipe the area of concern. The first application will absorb soak right in, but repeat to make sure its all even. Almost like a second "layer" of protection when your sealing or waxing.
I would get a little Swifter or OXO Dash Duster for your immediate needs, then 303 it 4-6 weeks. If your in a sun belt, consider more often.

exactly what Excel said (as usual). no need for cleaning chemicals on anything unless there is a reason such as a stain or something...dust, fingerprints, smudges...all come off perfectly with plain water.

for my leather seats/doors, i use zaino z10 (leather conditioner). i only use zaino z9 (leather cleaner) if absolutely necessary.

Do I have the right product in mind?

I need to treat my dash. Is this the right product?

PRODUCT

I've read a lot on this and most people are saying 303 Aerospace protectant is the right thing. I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking something.

...and is that a good price? Where can I buy this stuff? Kragen is my local auto parts store so if they generally carry it at somewhere close to this price per bottle, I'll probably just go there.

Thanks, guys (and gals, to be politically correct).

I've got an 07 type-s also. The service manager at the dealership said that I could use leather cleaner on the dash and door panels. Would you recommend this? I currently use meguirs quick interior. It doesn't leave a shiny finish but looks clean.

IMO, I'd stay away from anything that leaves a 'shiny' finish. When you first picked up the car, the interior likely did not look shiny - just clean and new. All that shiny stuff fades and I much prefer a 'natural' and clean look, instead.

My detailer uses a damp chamois - that's it. In a couple of months, I'm going to check out the 303 stuff - this supposedly leaves a natural and new look for the interior - nothing glossy.

For those of you in a high sun environment, seriously consider the 303. I live in Arizona, and the stuff went on my interior the day after I brought the TSX (both of them) home.

I wouldn't take a newborn out in the sun without a hat and sunscreen, and my car won't sit in a parking lot without 303.

I use it on ALL non-cloth surfaces inside the car, and alternately use Lexol on the actual leather portions of the interior (the perforated stuff).

Moisten a MF applicator with H2O, spray the 303 on and wipe away. Then just follow up with a dry MF cloth.

A word of caution though, some have reported a 'discoloration' of clear plastic such as in front of the instrument console, so you may want to be careful.

Hey, thanks for the advice. I think I'll just go ahead and get some 303 then. I do live in a pretty sunny environment (beach town), so it'll probably work really well in this application. Now I just need to know where I can find it locally...

If you have a pool supply SPA store, check there, as they also tout it as a protectant for the vinyl covers. Or, try a boating supply store. Call around and you will definitely find it, or just go here:

In my 07 TSX when I clean the leather. Should I wipe down with a damp MF, apply leather conditioner, and then top off with 303?
I was wondering if it is ok to top off conditioner with 303. Is this too much?
For a brand new car, should I start off by using a cleaner for the first initial cleaning?
TIA

Give the Meguiars Qwik Interior Detailer a try. The stuff works great. It's easy to use, removes smudges etc... I love it! Not to mention, it smells awesome

Dashboard cleaning – 10:1 solution Woolite / distilled water. Ultra violet radiation (UVR) 303 Space Protecterant; Once the 303 dries wipe the excess off to reduce the gloss / reflectivity.

Leather seats- as above + leather conditioner every three months (or as necessary)

i have used the general armor all wipes, i think the yellow pack, and that works great on everything from the dash to the doors. i was scared too cause i didnt want it to dry out my dash, i heard some products can make it age very fast since its a weird material. but yeah the armor alls work really good.

Cool I'm at the dealer as we speak.....

This morning, after washing the TL, I wiped off the dash with a damp microfiber cloth. It turned grayish-white. This problem has been noted before on several threads.

I have never used anything but 303 on this dash..... and then, sparingly 2 or 3 times in 3 years.

I mentioned it to the Service Writer and he said they have something to fix that. I am hesitatingly going to let them try.

I dread going to the dealer. This is my first time back since I took delivery of the car 3 years ago. I maintain it myself.

I will follow up and let you know what they do and whether or not it works.

If not, I will clean it again, this time using a 10:1 Woolite solution and re-apply the 303.

I don't consider 303 to be an appearance product. I use it for protection from UV rays and the appearance is so-so

Having second thoughts, I asked the detail person at the Acura dealer what product he was going to use to "fix" the gray residue on my dash.

He showed me a large commercials sized jug of Lexol "Vinylex".

I took a pass. I don't want to put more junk on the dash .... I want to get the gray off.

I will deal with it myself.

Acura dealers should have http://www.bernardiparts.com/Product...id=08740-PC008

I use a product called Granitize Auto Gloss. It's far superior to any product I ever seen. Don't let them use Lexol.........

One of my best friends used to work for one of the best detailers in New England and all they use is stoner window cleaner spray. I've used it ever since and the dash comes out mint. They use it on leather seats too then they condition them afterwards. It does wonders on the inside

Well, I use Stoner Glass Cleaner on the inside and outside of the windows so the dash gets it by default .

UPDATE: I used the Woolite solution but 10:1 is too strong. It's very sudsy and thick at that ratio. I cut it to about 20:1 and that seemed OK. I also used this (damp microfiber) on the leather seats as a wipe down. I thought everything was already clean but by the color of the rinse water, I now know they weren't.

The Woolite did not take off the whitish/gray coating but a re-application of the 303 did. It now looks good. I'll check it in the daylight tomorrow and may do a second coat of the 303. But the coating is 95% gone.
