I agree with ColorX. Good chemical cleaning abilities. And good polish for most paint colors.

Also try Meg's #6 Cleaner Wax. Somewhat closer to ColorX but more apt for DA Polisher use.

not t o burst the bubble, but isn't color X a polish? I think that the turtle wax Ice is pretty good for the amount of time it takes to apply, 20 minutes and I am done. Slickness lasts for a few days and protection for about 2 weeks on 2 coats.

Thats kind of where I was headed, although both are cleaner/WAXES. Big edge to the ColorX though in the durability dept as it contains polymer protection. Mothers Reflections Polymer Sealant would be my first choice.....If you can find Duragloss 105 or 111, theyre about as good as you can (or cant) find....Borderline boutique products.....

For me, DG 105 gets the nod followed by Mothers Reflections. For a pure sealant, DG 111.

There have been posts about NXT, so you may wanna use the search feature. Some do like it and some don't. From experience, it doesn't feel as slick after a wash and durability is questionable (4-6 weeks). It didn't provide the reflectivity and shine in comparison to the product I'm now using.

One good/bad feature about it is that it had fillers, so if you don't want to (or can't) polish, you can hide the swirls for a week or two.

Looks OK, but doesn't last very long.

I always used Mother's gold on my cars and I felt they had a great shine. Kept the paint rich. I would look at similar cars and I would notice that thier shine or color wasn't as rich as mine.

With such great products readily available online for affordable prices do you really need to buy something cheap like what's listed here?

Mother's pure - not the cleaner wax.

I've liked it more than many boutique waxes I've tried over the years. Of course, I've alway cleaned and polished the surface well and then put many thin coats on consistently over 2-3 months.

depends on what you call affordable? affordable to you may not be affordable to someone else. In addition, with some of these products and the system used, Zaino for instance, everyone don't have that type of time to detail their car or have an garage to do it properly.

IMO the best OTC wax is Meg's #27 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax.

Don't forget, no wax can make up for an unprepared surface. Polish, then apply wax if the surface has any defects (swirls, scratches, etc.)

I'm a big fan of the Meguiar's #7 Show car glaze + #26 Hi-tech liquid wax combination.

+1 . . . Surface prep is what it's all about. If this step is not done, you won't get the full benefit of the product. You may as well just wash the vehicle, slap something on the surface and call it a day. I'm pretty sure it's been said here before; "90% procedure, 10% product." or something to that effect.

If you get the pure Nuba from Mothers

you will be happy. I mean its not completely cleaner free, as theres some petroleum used obviously to process it and make it usable. But pretty darm good nuba, if thats what ya like........

I have used "Black Magic" wax on my 3.2 TL, RSX-S, & Civic EX, all black paint. It works very well, but it a bit tough to get all off the paint. Time will tell on how long it lasts, as I just started using it within the last 6 weeks. I haven't polished or anything, just waxed. It is a really nice product, especially since you can pick it up at Autozone. I've read a lot of good posts about Meguiar's NXT, so I am going to try it next. I am going to buy a PC 7424 orbital polisher at Christmas, then I am going to really learn how to detail.

I tried some turtal way platum series this weekend on my wifes civic, and it did a great job. Of corse I clay bar'd it first, but the car has never looked as rich and thick with color. yall that say color x is good, I would have to disagree, It may be me expecting to much, but I couldn't tell that it did any thing at all. The best polish/wax I ever used was egle 1 polis/wax with teflon. but I cant find it any more.

I like Meguiars.

ColorX (cleaner + wax) and NXT (pure synthetic wax) are both great product, but none of them last very long.

I like their M21, which is a cousin of NXT. Many people and I all find M21 to last a lot longer than the NXT, but it doesn't shine as much. But if I really want my car to shine, I'll top M21 with M26 Hi-Tech Yellow.

Clay -> Polish (M80) -> M21 -> M26

I honestly think they outshine and better protect my car than anything else in the market, including the worshiped Zaino.

But your choice of wax is a highly subjective thing. Just choose the products you like and stick with them.

Color X is basically a one step product - cleans and protects in one application. It probably has fillers to cover/hide paint imperfections such as swirls and light scratches. I think UPP works best and will bond much better on a prepped and sterile surface. Give it a shot and let us know how it turns out.
