Back to School Detail
Gah damn. Never had a full detail before. Took me like 10 hours in a span of two days. Every year I would do a full detail before school starts since I'm pressed for time during the school season. But this year I didn't think there were so much to clean since I learn and know more about detailing than I did last year. It was a pretty excruciating process but I'm glad I'm done with it.
Day one was paint work. Washed with Optimum No Rinse. One step polish with Optimum Spray Polish. Skipped the clay bar because I wash the car every week so there weren't much contaminants on the paint.
Then I topped it off with Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection and also cleaned the little stuff like windows, exhaust pipes, dress up some exterior trim.
Day two was a quick wash, glazed with Danase Wet Glaze 2.0. Then another layer of Four Star UPP. The wheels got the same treatment as the paint minus the polish. The tires where sprayed and wiped with 303 Aerospace Protectant. Then I went on and worked on the interior with Turtle Wax Total Interior Care.
The glaze actually works very well because I've never seen my car with so much depth. I've done two layers of FS UPP before but it never had as much depth as with the glazed sandwiched between. Highly recommend that product.
Then cleaned the engine bay with a wet towel and 303 Aerospace Protectant. Also was able to repaint the replica grill because of rock chips from the Oregon drive.
Over all I know I could have done better but 10 free hours was asking for a lot with what I have going on in my life. If I had unlimited amount of hours, I think I'll take about 16 hours to be content with the whole detail. I felt like I rushed some of the process.
Well, here are some pics. Not much since I was way too tired after the detail to squat and tilt and squint to get the right shots.
