Audi RS4 Detail+Correction
Did this detail with my buddy near the end of August but never got around to posting it up on this forum. Written by my buddy again, enjoy:
Hey guys! So with some free time before school starts again, Vince (v|nsan|ty) and I decide to work on two more vehicles before the detailing season ends for us. First up is a 2008 Audi RS4 in Phantom Black with some very heavy defects as we will later see.
The Subject:
Total Time: 20 Hours
A quick look:
Deep imperfections:
To begin, we cleaned the wheels using Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner, while the rubber was scrubbed with 1z W99:
Cleaned:
Exhaust tips were also scrubbed with W99 and detailing steel wool:
Next the vehicle was foamed and washed using Chemical Guys Citrus Wash n Clear and Maxi Suds:
TarX was utilized to assist in contaminate removal (excuse my odd approach of the application):
With a final wash of the vehicle, we brought it in for a clay, it was clear how heavily contaminated the vehicle was:
Wheels required some claying as well as stubborn contaminates were not removed from Custom Wheel Cleaner:
The Paint Correction:
The Phantom Black paint proved to be extremely hard as often is the case with Audi's, Meguiar's D300 and M101 was used with MF Cutting discs for the compounding stage, while M205 on a white LC pad was used to refine the paint:
Passenger fender before:
After:
50/50 of the 3M:
Passenger door before:
After:
50/50 of the driver side fender:
50/50 Driver side quarter:
Passenger quarter before:
After:
Passenger rear door before:
After:
Door handles were polished by hand:
Next it was taken out to be re-foamed and rinsed:
Because this is a year round driven vehicle, we used Collinite 845 Insulator Wax to provide durable yet glossy protection:
Tires dressed with Blackfire:
Sonus Metal Polish and sealant was used for the exhaust tips:
The next day we took it out for a quick photoshoot:
Thanks for reading!
