Anyone use Meguiars?

Hi all,

Looking to do some extensive cleaning on my TL this weekend and was wondering if anyone here uses Meguiars? I do have the shampoo product as well as the rims and detailing product. But am mainly inquiring about the Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner/Protector seen here: http://en.meguiarscanada.ca/product/230

Does this go well with the TL? Any experiences? How about the cleaning / detail product. Any advice would help.

Thanks!

I recommend looking for the products on amazon then reading the reviews. I get a lot of my detailing stuff from there and the user reviews from what I have experienced are accurate.

I recommend the Zaino products only avail on zainostore.com. Ive been using it for a few years. My car is an 09' People think its brand new. Its pretty cheap too. When apply for first time as instructed it is time consuming but well worth it. I have dark colored car (mbm) and used to have spidering and swirls. Zaino took care of that

For how too's yea but there's a lot of long winded people out there and when I want to have a general idea of if something is ok or not I like the abridged version of reviews.

Are you in Canada? If so, check out eshine.ca. It will likely blow your mind with all the stuff you can get. There is a section with several how to's.

I also recommend chemical guys, especially if you're new to detailing; excellent products and great prices. Meguairs gold class leather conditioner and cleaner worked great on my ebony interior but were too harsh for umber FYI.

The item the OP mentioned is a all in one... cleaner and a conditioner in one. I have it in my garage and I will say that while it is not bad, it is not great. What I would recommend instead is to buy a designated cleaner and a designated conditioner. Altho bit more time consuming, they will be a heck of lot more effective.

As to Meguiars product overall, for the price and quality, they are pretty hard to beat. You will often find many prof detailers using Meg's Detailer's Line products.
Meg's consumer line is a tad bit watered down if you will but still works well.

I have used Meguiars since day one with my TL and have been very happy with their products. Sure there are better (and more expensive) products out there but I don't feel the need to switch.

I was previously using these:

Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish

Meguiar's M26 Mirror Glaze Hi-Tech Yellow Wax Meguiar's M26 Mirror Glaze Hi-Tech Yellow Wax

Last week I bought these and am going to try them out this weekend.

Meguiar's Ultimate Polish Meguiar's Ultimate Polish

Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Professional Synthetic Sealant Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Professional Synthetic Sealant

.

I too go this way .. as for a cleaner I use a 10:1 mix of Woolite & water and conditioner of choice ... Just remember our seats are coated leather so your not treating anything but the coating.

Key is keeping it clean.. biggest enemy to our seats is the wear the dirt causes on the coating.

I used a Scotch Brite pad and dish soap the first few times but it didn't shine and the paint always seemed to wear off... hmmm

Seriously, I use Meguiar's Ultimate Polish followed by Meguiar's Sealant. Works like a champ, car looks wet right now and I waxed it about 6 weeks ago.

On my BWP it gets those winter, I call it "Fly shit" brown specks and have found that if you mix Meguiar's swirl remover about 40% w/the polish is takes them out much easier. This is my first white car and that was a real shocker after the winter, most can't ever see it but my anal streak got the best of me and I found every one and polished them off.

Truthfully, I think most waxes are good, it just needs to go on your car and often, more so if you run it through car washes or live in a harsh climate. Here in Ohio we wax em before winter to save the paint and again after winter to show off the paint, I normally throw in a late summer/early fall wax also.

I do something similar. I initially clean the leather with 10:1 of APC with microfiber or brush for deeper stains. Then I follow up with the Meg's cleaner/conditioner.

Fly Shit .. Look up rail dust. Proper way to deal with it is use a clay bar.

Kev, detail your car but don't wax it. Then use a coating/sealant called 22PLE......amazing.

Rail Dust that was a new one on me

Seems the only way to get rid of it is to use an acid wash (that isn't good for the paint) so I'll just keep claying and rewaxing.

They even say clay is not such a good solution as the rail dust gets deep into the clearcoat. My first experience with a white car... might be my last.
