Another Idiot Needing Help

So I think it is time for me to give me TL a good wash/wax treatment before I drive back to school. It doesn't look that bad right now since I only bought it about 3 months ago and it was detailed prior to purchase (05 WDP TL)

So I have been reading stuff on here for a week now but still would like some suggestions.

1) What does this NWRS do, is this for cleaning the car, or a pretreatment for some sort of shampoo (if so, what is a good shampoo)

2) I am going to by a clay bar soon and it seems like you use the lube it comes with or does water work fine

3) My dad has a 10' random orbital buffer, I know everyone lives by the UDM/PC, but can I suffice with this? If so where do I buy pads for this and what kinda of pads do I need. I am thinking Optimum Compound and Polish. Waht order do I use these different pads, and do you use one pad to apply and one to buff or just apply by hand and buff off

4) I think Danase Wet Glaze and UPP are going to be my finals steps. Which do I apply first and do I use a UDM with them? Do I need different pads for these as well

5) Where do you buy those attackment to clean wheels using cordless drills, looks much easier then the stupid brushes I have be slaving with

Thank you for your help and suggestions and sorry for sounding like a moron to many of you

if your dads orbital is one of thoes 30 dollar specials from walmart, then no...you would be waisting your time...

as for claying, i have had good results using carwash soap as my lube when claying to save time...i just wash each panel, then soap it up again and clay it, then rinse...

i used dwg first then upp....i think you uses it in either order...and yes, i use my udm on 1.5 speed to apply the upp and dwg...

and last but not least, your not an idiot.....

1) Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine is a rinseless wash that allows users to wash cars on a limited water supply or just want to wash their cars quickly and safely (when used correctly). If you're looking to do a more traditional wash, Meguiar's Gold Class is a good shampoo to purchase over the counter.

2) When it comes to using the clay bar, you can use the supplied lube (if any) or just use any car wash shampoo mixture. You can also use quick detail spray but obviously the cheaper method would be using the car wash shampoo mixture.

3) A 10" random orbital buffer really will not do all that much due to its size and function. You'd really be better off in investing in a UDM/PC and some 6" or 4" pads. You can purchase all the pads you need from Patrick at Excel Detail. It's difficult to say exactly what you'll need for your car since you haven't provided any pics but a good start would be to go with a polishing pad and OP. You use the same pad to apply and buff with.

4) You can apply either DWG or UPP first in any order. The great thing about DWG is that you can apply it before your LSP or top your LSP. It's up to you whether you want to use your PC/UDM to apply if but if you do, you'll have to use the finishing pad. Personally I enjoy applying them by hand but if I'm pressed for time, I'll usually apply my LSPs with the PC. Just be sure that you use separate pads for each product.

5) Typically brushes are more than enough to clean wheels... you just have to have the right tools. But if you're looking for those use with cordless drills, there's the Laitner Wheel Brush and the Ace Power Stick.

I hope this helps you out.
