Just received Sony/Ericson T608 for SPRINT. Early impressions are that this is an excellent quality phone. Its well made (no junky plastic), has nice displays/options. Best of all, it linked up easily with the TL!!

I called sprint yesterday to set up service and use the T608. I was amazed to learn that they have "sold out" of the phone and the sales assistant said they were going to "discontinue" the T608 after having it out only a week or two, but he said to check back in a few days, because after checking with a supervisor, it seems that there are "rumor" about the phone. Earlier in the day I had talked to a different sales assistant who mentioned that the T608 was a popular phone in the last week or two.

Go figure...

Yeah......I had read somewhere on one of these boards that the Sprint T608 was possibly a limited production model?? Maybe Sprint is just testing out the waters with Bluetooth. They should seriously bring out some BT phones though soon or they WILL loose customers (I was ready to walk).

Just spoke with Misty at 1-800-PCS-AUTO:

They are not taking deposits and the Guestimate for the next
batch is 2 weeks to 6 months!

Can you say: Market Research Analysis?

I have been w/Sprint for >3 years, and the wife w/Verizon for about the same duration.

Sprint LAGS where Verizon LEADS in So-Cal.
It could be my TouchPoint 2100 has bad Signal Aquisition, but my wife gets full reception when I am "Searching for a Sig.

Does Verizon have better "Knife Edge Refraction?"

I would switch to Verizon in a heartbeat--but they do not have trust in the BT market... yet.

Get Smart Verizon, Get Smart Sprint.

Jones-Zing to get the "Handsfree Link" Op-checked....

Can you give us some kind of contact info for a local t-moblie store that you saw the z600 in? I have contacted T-Mobile customer service and they know nothing of the z600. I would really be interested in ANY info you can provide. Thanks!!!

The only place I've seen on the web that offers the Z600 with a contract for T-Mobile is Just-Talk. You must be a resident of NY or NJ to get the contract discount. Bought my from another vendor ($350) and am very pleased with it. Reception is excellent and acts like it was made for the TL. First try using Acura's instructions for the pairing. The only problem I have is when other people see it. They want one! Have had two offers to buy mine.

Yes (timeframe), when they feel like it. Verizon is terrible at adding new technology. My guess is when they loose enough customers to other carriers because of Bluetooth, they will add it to thier phones. Problem there is the number of people who will switch is such a small percentage it doesn't make much of an impact. Could be years.

Have been a Verizon customer for many years. The best coverage of any carrier. Switched to T-Mobile because of Bluetooth. So far, the coverage has been excellent. I think Verizon was the best a few years ago, but the other carriers have caught up.

So what is the best phone (BT) to get from T-Mobile for the TL? I agree with you Verizon used to be best, I have a lot of issues lately with them were none used to exist.
Any reccomendations?

I have attempted to link a Nokia 6600 (using t-Mobile). I have succeeded in geeting the link. I can answer the phone. I can dial out , but the sound remains within the handset. I suppose there is no hope for me.
Separately, I purchased an unlocked T68I from an ebay seller. The phone contains an earlier version of the firmware. The phone is not out getting flashed and updated to the most current version.
This is turning out to be a lot of work!

Im using a SE Z600 on T-Mobile. Like it alot. Hooks up with the TL easily. Haven't had time to download my contact list from Outlook yet, but the voice system works well. Have dialed three numbers using the voice system and it got it right every time.

Since I have the signal stength on the dash I have been watching T-Mobiles coverage. Am impressed so far. Haven't found an area where there is no coverage. Time will tell, but so far this is as good or better than I got from Verizon.

Hows the Battery life on the T608? I heard it pretty bad from various cell phone forums, but anyone have 1st hand experience?

I have had the T608 for a couple of weeks now.

Battery life seems okay, but it hasn't been getting a lot of use over the holidays.

I have not noticed the dramatic difference that some others have mentioned.

I found a T608 on eBay (Buy it now) and it should be delivered next week. I have learned that SonyEricsson made only 10000 of them, and only 5000 were allocated to Sprint. Anyway, I'm glad I found one, especially after reading all the good reports on this forum.

Update on my T616. I got it two weeks ago. Paired it once and haven't looked back. I hop in the car, start up the engine and away we go. My wife's 6310i still asks her if she wants to pair or not so she has to hit a button. I'm sure that's just a setting though.

Question SE T630.

Anybody has tried T630, the update cell for T610 & T616?

Just like to know what new features it may have. Or it's just another costly eye-catching toy.

My 6310i works the way your T616 works - it automatically pairs once the ignition is on- its just too bad I dont get the signal strength etc on the display. As Wright said "You cant have everything - where would you put it"

I just got the (not released in the US yet) Nokia 6820. The phone is a lot smaller than the previous 6800, it includes a camera that takes still and video with sound. As far as Bluetooh is concerned, the sound quality is far superior to the T616, Pairing was really easy and the phone re-connected with the car every time I got in and out. Unfortunately Nokia still has not figured out that they need to send signal strength and battery strength to the car. Another plus is that the caller Id info is sent.

Update. The nokia 6820 does have a problem re-connecting to the car if you use the security key lock feature on the phone. You have to unlock the phone before entering the car. If you enter the car with the phone locked you must unlock the phone, it then tries to connect to the car.

On the 6310i:

Go to the Bluetooth menu
Choose View Paired Devices
Choose a device
Choose Request conn. authorization
select YES

That ought to do it!

I was told today by a T-Mobile rep who had the T610 if I sign up the cost of the phone is free, are the new models that much better? I stll want to see what is the best model to get there is so much chatter, but I have yet to see a clear cut model that is standing above the rest.

For SE phones, I guess all models except T608, T630, Z600, P800, and P900, should be all free if you sign the new contract to get the new number or you sign the contract to transfer from old carrier to the new one...

dulnev,

If you read further down is says all four bands are GSM.

Everyone,

Does anyone out there have any info on this phone regarding handsfree profile? I've not seen any confirmation that this phone will work with the TL as well as other phones. Even the Moto info is not that detailed.

Since it's a new phone, it will comply with the latest Bluetooth protocols and would surely implement HFP.

Don't be too sure. When I went to the website and inquired about the HFP, it sent me to a screen and gave me information about the Bluetooth headset. If it does have an HFP, the designers of the website don't seem to know about it. I sent a question in asking if it would work with the HFP in the new Acura TL and have yet to get an answer. I'll let you know if I ever get one.

Panasonic X70 Does Not Work!!!!

I just picked up a panasonic X70 because the phone looked so much better than the SE Z600, but it does not work. It's really fickle, where even if you dial through the car, there is no sound when it is connected... the phone will not work if it is closed, and you have to reconnect everytime you get back in the car... well, I'm going to go exchange it for the SE Z600...

Panasonic cell phones are CRAP! The entire company is going down as far as the product quality and customer support.

GSM only. The 4 bands refer to 850mGhz (USA), 900 mGhz (Europe), 1800 mGhz (Europe), 1900mGhz (USA).
