I have 292k. Got the car w/ 149k clean & all service records. Drove it hard till 204k when the transmission blew. My job made me drive long distances. During summers I would get stuck in stop and go and city traffic. I learned to use the shifttronic in those moments to limit unnecessary shifting and ensure smooth shifts from 2-3 & 3-4. This spring at 284k i replace the engine. I've lightened up on the pedal. Also job change has decreased my annual mileage by 20k. All systems still work except bluetooth which i removed due to parasitic battery drain. I hope to keep the car through the 2 year engine warranty.

Just picked up my 2005 TL with 230K on the odo. I'm breathing some new life into it and setting it up to be a daily highway commuter for the 100 miles a day of driving that i do for work. Engine is strong, trans is also relatively smooth. Most of the issues I'm working on are changing out all the engine/trans mounts, brake system overhaul, basic maintenance items, a health check, and an interior refresh.

Need help deciding on ATF to use!

Sup Acura crew! I have a 3G TL automatic with 122000 miles. She's still running pretty strong but I am certain the trans fluid will need a change soon! Online I've read up that Z-1 fluid was discontinued and the new and improved DW-1 atf came to take its place.
Im just trying to choose between buying Acura DW-1 through kseries parts online, or Beck & Arnley premium Z-1 oem atf from rockauto.

Any and all input would be truly appreciated!

It's been a while - I'm at over 300k now on my 2004 TL. Still on the original clutch.

About 170k miles. got the car at 150k. knock on wood no major problems, mostly everything I've done is standard. replaced timing belt/water pump, belts, lower control arms, new tires and akebono brakes all the way around, MTF flush, headliner replacement, exhaust. engine and tranny run great. mechanic says the rack and pinion has a small leak, but it hasn't got any worse since I've had the car, but I'm preparing for that to be my next big issue.

Mine turned over to 154K over the weekend. No running issues other than a P0420 that just popped up.

278,000 and still going strong.

06 TL I got it with 198,000 miles on it 5 years ago. It's my daily driver. Nav quit a few years ago. Not a problem, too pricey to update DVD anyhow. Had to replace A/C Compressor. Engine and Tranny working fine.

07 Type S 6MT ~ 93K. I have only had to replace the alternator and battery (Walmart Maxx Life battery ftw) so far and that was due to me being a dumb ass and not paying attention and hooking up some jumper cables to a car backwards. Fun times.

What's the mileage on your 3G? Still going strong?-mr2dl50.jpg

Second time owning a 3G--bought new in 2006, 4G in 2009, back to the 3G over 4 years ago. Outwardly, everything looks great. Had some minor issues with a transmission leak, oil pan and valve covers, with those addressed, focusing on some normal maintenance with fuel system cleaning, spark plugs, shocks, struts, replace some internal LED's, etc. Hoping for another 150k! It's still all stock, would like to start modding, maybe look at the brakes next, not sure yet. The 3G is still looking good over a decade later.

170k on my 06 automatic - Obviously paranoid about the tranny, but the previous owner babied it on an all-highway commute for most of its life. Trans fluid hadn't been changed when I got it, so there was a slight 3rd to 4th gear "shudder" when it shifted. Did the pressure switches, trans filter, and a 3x3 trans fluid change and it feels great for now. Hopefully stays that way for another 100k (with regular fluid changes)

Yeah I think the front and rear needs replacements. Good amount of engine movement when I power break it. But when i checked the front one looks good still.

Im changing out my compliance bushing first this weekend since it is torn. and my ball joints since I am lowering it too.

Sorry; can't restrain myself:
  • Break = Take a lunch break from work
  • Brake = When you hit the brake pedal to slow down or downshift your transmission to "Power Brake"

07 type s at 190k getting ready for the 200k maintenance. replaced axles (original ones broke, that was fun), brakes, alternator, serpentine belt, and xenon headlights. still drives beautifully and hoping to get at least 300k only issue currently is rust inside the doors towards the bottom.

I've got a 2005 6-speed with almost 180,000 miles. Mechanically it is sound, but the previous owners were Arizonans and did not keep this car out of the sun or heat so the paint is a little faded and the dash has a crack, but luckily the previous owner replace the leather on the seats and those look stellar. The manual transmission is amazing to drive, especially switching back and forth from my girlfriend's manual 2005 Mitsu Lancer base model. As far as I can tell, this engine is in it for the long haul. It does leak a small amount, but so far it fas been fine. The one thing is a slight intermittent vibration on the freeway. The passenger side CV joint boot has a slight crack in it, with no leakage, and I think maybe that has something to do with it, but I know trying to solve this kind of thing can be crazy annoying and hard to pin down!

Mine rolled over 130,000 this last weekend and has had a very minor but annoying shimmy, especially after acceleration. I'll be doing the clutch in the next six to eight weeks and have already purchased some new axles (thanks EvilVirus) to pop in at the same time. Hopefully that will solve the shimmy.

185k on my 2006 Acura TL. Still running strong 💪🏼 no engine knocking or anything of the sort. Only thing that I’ve had to do to it was replace the timing belt and serpentine belt which is expected. I’ve also added an after market cat back exhaust system and a k&n cold air intake. She sounds great and I drive her a lot. At least 100 Miles a day.

I'm about to hit 92k. No major issues but I too have a vibration going 45+. Wheels have been balanced twice and rotated numerous times and it's still there. Last I was under the car, looked like the intermediate shaft bearing was on it's last legs, it's caked with grease. So come spring time I'll probably change the intermediate shaft + both axles, ball joints and the LCA bushings while I'm in there.

There is an '08 WDP with 56k miles, clean history that has popped up for sale by my house. I'm tempted to buy it if the price is right and just sell my '06. Would be nice to have the updates of the refreshed model. We'll see.

440,000 currently, 2004 Base TL
I'm looking for my second replacement tranny (probably going with an 06 TL tranny, or 06 Accord), its still good, just front loading parts due to the age of current one- otherwise, believe it or not gents, the car is pretty much untouched. Lived in Kansas City MO the entire time after leaving PA in 2006
Here's what I've done (ish)
100k service, 3 times now
Alternator
Power steering pump
a window regulator
couple random sensors (O2's x 2)

I've been using the cheapest gas I can buy and I change oil out every 10k, unless I forget, then sometimes 18ish000. Depends if I'm busy, lol. I use the cheapest FULL synthetic I can buy from Autozone and I stick with anything NOT fram for the filter that comes with the oil deal.

if you've got questions, contact me at testsbyseth@hotmail.com-

Just took delivery of an 2005 Abyss Blue Pearl 6MT with only 56k. What an absolute blast to drive. From the looks of this thread, I'll be enjoying this car for another 13 years easily.

Two 2007 TL Type S. One at about 130k and other at 94k

130k one is long and gone as some a-hole took it on a joy ride and totaled it. Prior to it, i got it at 115k and had zero problems with it. Oil change every 4k miles and also did the 3x3 flush when i got it.

Loved the car so much I picked up the one currently at 94k at a salvaged lot. Did maintenance on it and got it running. So far its running like a champ!
I can upload pics of before and after shots of it.
