Looking at a 3rd Gen TL

Hey, Guys

Currently I am driving an 06 Accord LX-SE and am looking at selling it to get a 3rd gen TL. I've been reading some of the stuff on here about them and like what I see so far. Is there anything I should be looking at specifically when looking at one of these?

I would stay away from the auto 04-06 as they are notorious for transmissions going out. I would search for a 07-08, as they have refined transmissions from the RL

If you can swing it, buy a 07/08 Type-S.

Welcome to AcuraZine and feel free to post ads of vehicles that you are looking at so you can get feedback.

Oh I totally forgot to put that stuff. I'm looking at the 6MT. How are the trannys on those? I've looked at the type-s but decided that is a little too far out of my price range. Looking at spending around 12k max.

12k should get you a clean 06 6MT. The 3rd gear synchro tends to be a little problematic and cause it to pop out of gear. Changing the transmission fluid out for GM Synchromesh is a popular way to eliminate those symptoms.

Hey I'm new here. I was just wondering, does anyone know where I can buy the A-spec lip kit?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm really liking these more and more. Hopefully I'll be able to find a decent one in the near future.

Is your Accord an I4 or V6? If it's a V6 it probably won't feel that different and will have more features to break on it, realistically it won't be like going from a Civic to a Corvette, if you're on a budget I'd rock out with what you have for a while unless it has issues.

Its an I4. I'm planning on selling it back to my dad because he's getting rid of the Cobalt SS as it is too small for him. Also I want the V6 and 6MT.

Makes more sense that way, just I've seen a lot of people try to move up to what they think is a nicer car and waste a bunch of money without getting really anything different. They're good cars, if it runs good and the deal is good jump on it, it's hard to nitpick too many things since these cars are getting old now. Throw in some new fluids and good tires and you'll be happy.

Yeah I can imagine. Even though its getting old I still think it's one of the nicer looking cars out there.

Folks, I'm new here. Can someone point to a link that shows that the 07-08's have a different trans than the 06?

Thanks!

You'll definitely be able to find a 6 speed for 12k or under. I was looking for a Type S too but the price was out of my range so I just went with a base 04. MT is the way to go! You'll have lots of fun with it!

I went from a Civic to a TL so the power is awesome. You'll definitely be able to feel the power difference between the I4 and the V6. Gas will cost more to fill it up because it uses Premium but it's definitely worth it!
