Gatr...
The power of the airbag is so strong, it "likely" wouldn't make much difference what you do...
If it looks bad again, I'd just wrap the entire dash in vinyl or leatherette!

Plus, if it's a Takata airbag, the shrapnel will cut a nice hole in the coverlay for the airbag to follow

I developed, just today, the notorious dash crack by the passenger airbag. I took care of the dash. I parked in my garage every night. I put on sunshades. I was confident that the dash crack would not come to my doorstop. Well, it kicked in my front door, shot me, and then left. The value of my car just went down by an order of magnitude. I have 131K miles on the car now.
Now I have four options (in order of ascending cost):
1. Do nothing and drive the car as is. Dash crack will only get worse with time.
2. Get a fabric dash mat. Ugly as sin, and a band-aid fix.
3. Get a plastic dash cover. Not as bad as above, but still ugly. Will not use screws.
4. Ask Acura to see about covering a portion of the dash repair. I know the corporate ops manager at a local dealer (former Navy Captain and CO). If they say no, then I would either go with one of the above options or below.
5. Sell the car meow and get a newer car.

There was one thing I didn't expect to happen with these dashboards, they have a chance of peeling / breaking in pieces. This happens way after the cracks form and the cracks spread all over and the crack gaps are fairly large. I've seen it on a few dashboards.

There is a clear tint with the same UV protection as a 20% tint. My tint guy does some high end cars with it. I’d prob go with 70-80%, and just go legal on the sides, if I was to retint.
Like rockstar said, it’s going to happen, regardless. I’ve babied mine, always in garage and always sunshade, and always allow heat out before turning on a/c. Granted mine lasted longer than some others I’ve seen, but it still did it.

I fought Acura to goodwill almost all of it...by the time I sold the car, the new one was doing it. Aerospace 303...insulated sunshade...window visors so i could crack the windows at all time...keep ambient temp down...don't run ac as soon as I'd get in the car on a hot day...
didn't fucking matter...
it was earth friendly new material that didn't go over well.
If I were to do it all over again, I would have put that suede shit back on and enjoyed my life again.

I had some crazing in the paint from the previous owner on the trunk lid, the trunk lid spoiler was hazing because of the sun, and there is a dime-sized dent in the trunk lid due to carrying a bike in the trunk. After this, I plan on repainting the passenger side rear door (slight dent a paint marring), and then the car will be completely scratch free, like I just drove it off the dealer floor.
And then I'll get hit by a meth-crazed asshole from Miami.

IDK there was damage from a previous owner. I didn't know you didn't fix it yet. C'mon Gatr, don't be a kurt!
