Anyone looked how to DIY oil change?
On my 2008 rdx is really easy to change oil yourself. I was wondering if its just as easy on 2019 since its v4. Does it have filter accessible in the middle of the car, or is it behind the wheel? Is it covered with plastic cover?

I don't know where in NJ you are but, I've been having all service done at Park Ave Acura in Maywood for years.
No appointment needed, competitive prices, and free car wash.
I would never consider getting under the car myself.

It's in the Owner's Manual.
There is a thin aluminum panel beneath the engine, held in place with fasteners that release with a quarter turn.
The drain bolt and oil filter are above the panel.
They look easy to access from below the vehicle. No wheel well contortions like some other V6 Honda/Acura vehicles.

I always change oil myself for multiple reasons:
1) save a lot of time by avoiding dealer visit
2) get the best synthetic oil
3) save $
4) do it right without over torque and over fill like dealers usually do
in 1st gen rdx you dont need ramps or jack, just climb under and change it. Its very easy, hope its just that easy with new one

Exactly. I tend to let dealer only work on car up until the warranty expires and ONLY if the price is very good....like $25 oil change. Otherwise I prefer to do myself and keep car out of their hands. Before the warranty expires they don't tend to find any "necessary" or "recommended" work...only after warranty do they notice problems.

Many years ago, a friend had the dealer do an oil change on his Integra.
They forgot to put new oil in.
He drove away happy and fried his engine on the way home.
Poor little Teggy.
The dealer had to give him a new engine..
Sounds like the oil change on this car is fairly easy.
I'm too old. If I get under the car, I won't be able to get up again

For me its not so much about saving money, I like working on the car also. I do all the simple maintance myself. When your car under warranty you can still do your own oil changes, just need to save the receipts just in case

I hear you.....I am getting near that point myself. But I enjoy working on my car and as RussianDude said, it is not about the money. Just enjoy the satisfaction of doing the work and knowing that I am not getting ripped off by dealer.

I have the 1G RDX and girlfriend has a 2010 CRV. I would say the RDX is easier to change because of the oil filter position/angle, but like quantum7 said, self satisfaction of changing oil yourself without leaving your driveway. Of course one has to dispose of the used oil, that is the only downside. Takes longer to cleanup than change the oil.
