What do y'all think of the new Texas plates?

So I've been noticing some new plates out there and just as I thought it was just a few people who got those custom plates, I found out they were the new standard... This is my take on them:

Old design: Perfectly fine. just 3 colors and nothing too distracting, white in the middle again not distracting, the top has a little picture or the NASA space shuttle with some stars and a moon that symbolizes Space Center Huston, and the bottom has a cowboy on a horse on the plains and desert with 2 oil extractor things behind him. (don't know the name of them)

New design: FUGLY, weird green sky, distracting, and overly detailed that it makes it an eyesore.. And it looks way worse on the car.

What do you guys think?

I think I'm gonna go that route when I have to get new ones this December. I mean, can't be more than $50 right?

edit:
If you don't want to use a special-interest plate that is also used by others, vanity plates―also known as personalized license plates―might fit the bill. All you need is a knack for "spelling" words in funky ways using six or fewer letters or numerals, including no more than two symbols (dashes, spaces, periods, or Texas icons). Personalized plates cost $40 per year in addition to ordinary registration fees.

I've hated the plates since they changed from a simple white background to all these stupid "scenes". They are way too busy and with the state in white lettering, it makes it hard to read from afar. I also hate the fact that they got rid of the raised lettering. I guess they're cheaper to make now without it.

I have a specialty plate that I've had for 12 years and it is simple to read and has raised lettering and the're gonna have to pry it from my cold dead hands . They actually sent me "replacements" (same number) a few years ago without the raised lettering and I refused to put them on.

new plates are ugly. last time i got new plates they gave me the solid white ones, so i'll have those for a while. might get vanity plates next time around, but not sure if i'm willing to spend $70+ a year for registration.

Out of curiosity, what keeps someone from buying a black plate & putting what they want on it & someone buying a white plate & having the same thing?

because it doesnt matter what the back ground is. when cops look up ur plates they just type in whats written on the plate. same thing everywhere else. when u fill out a form, u have to write the plate number

Jotech's a local tuner shop that's got 2-3 GT-R's all running "Jotech" on the plates.

Jotech's license plate is actually 1 but duplicated into 3 because all the same car.

Jotech is known tuner shop in Dallas. Kenny Tran runs most of everything. They do have a racing team that I used to be on, but dropped because of the long drives from Austin to Dallas and Houston to Dallas.

I still don't see how he can get away with running the same plate on a white & a black GT-R at the same time just b/c both cars are the same model.

I don't think it's a big deal if they're just shooting some photos.

I thought it was only $50 / yr.. Is it because of the special plate you chose?

10 yrs doesn't sound all that bad as long as you really like name you've chosen. I wonder if you can change it down the road without forking over more money..

from what i've heard, it will be sometime in november

I ordered another set for my truck, just the custom design like on the CL, but not custom letters.

and look at the damn pricing. F***
