Dallas / Ft. Worth Metroplex Meets
Day 2 Continued . .
The aquarium turned out to be awesome-well worth the $10 bucks!

Thay had this long tunnel that you walked through that was actually under the tanks, so everything swam over you-very cool, but messed with your head cause the optics where VERY weird.

After spending a few hours exploring the aquarium, we move on to the tallest hotel tower in the world-the Jin Mao tower, home to the Grand Hyatt. On the top floor, they have a bar called Cloud 9. Very stuffy-as in rich stuffy. So, we played it up-we had drank our martinis, and had our tapas. Oh, and reveled at the never ending sea of sky-scrapers:

After paying out the ass for our four drinks and 6 tapas, we head back to the hotel, nap a few hours, and go out with Tiffany's friend Chris again. Man, he has the hotest little asian girlfriend!! Anyways, we drink the night away, and fall dead asleep.

Day 3
Today, we traveled to Guilin. One thing that we learned about China air travel is that EVERYTHING changes at the last minute. About ten seconds before you board, they change the gate
Anyways, we couldn;t complain that much as the plane had about 10 people on it, and we always got really excelent food.
Our guide in Guilin was really pretty good-her name was Joanna. She picked us up, droped us off at the hotel, and then got us tickets to take a river cruise through Guilin.
Guilin, it turns out, is the Chinease version of Venice.
Anyways, we jump on the boat and are amazed at the beauty. I don't have many pictures of this night because they gave us a CD with pictures.
The sun Pagoda:

The Moon Pagoda:

Part of the river cruise included Cormorant fishing. What the fishermen do is tie of the birds necks so that they cannot swallow the fish, and then let them go down and catch a fish. When the bird returns with the fish, the fishermen push the fish out of the birds throught, and the process repeats. They say it is not traumatizing, but the hell do they know??!!

Day 4
Today we scheduled a river cruise down the Li River. (Li turns out to mean clean, named because the water is so clean). We are seated with a couple from the UK who are on a trip to see the native tribes of China. They were a lovely couple and we had an excellent cruise.

Cat mountian:

Everywhere in China, there are people trying to sell you things. These guys would sit along the shore until a boat came by, paddle like hell to get out to it, tie up, and try to sell their chachka.

Day 4 continued . . .
At the end of the cruise, we met up with our driver and drove back into Guilin.

Tiffany wanted to climb one of the hills, so we went climbing! Views from the top overlooking the city:

After climbing back down, we headed back to the hotel, rested, and then went out to a local bar with Joanna. We drank a shitload more (are you starting to the pattern yet
) and promptly went to sleep!

Day 5
Today we had the morning to ourselves to recover, so we went out walking around the rivers. They love copying things, so here is a replica of the Golden Gate and the Arc de Triumph.

After walking around the rivers, we meet back up with Joanna and went caving-well, more like walking around in a cavern, but it was cool none-the-less.

We then went exploring around the rest of the mountain, went pearl shopping for my mommy and went back to the hotel, watched pirated movies on the hotel's movie channel, and caught up on some sleep.

Day 6 and 7
Day 6 was filled with waiting for the damn plane. We made the mistake of checking out at about 10, and then waiting untill 7 for the plane
When we arrived in Xi'an, we thought it was snowing. WRONG. There so much polution, that you could never see the blue sky
This pics was taken at about 3 in the afternoon, looking directly at the sun.

So, after staying the night in one of thenicest hotels I have stayed in, the Shang-ri-La Golden Flower, we awoke to go see the Terracota Warriors with our Guide Xi-who was arguably our best guide. A picture of all of us later on that night after she took Tiffany and I to get our nails done

And, the TW, simpy amazing! The main pit:

They are constantly restoring the guys from when the peasant ruined everything. It is amazing how much they can reasemble.

Day 7 continued . . .
After seeing the main pit, we walked on to see what is the officer's pit:

This shows what it was like when they dug everything up-not a thing left un-destroyed.

Notice where the hand is :scary:

And the last pit, a combination of everybody, infantry, archers, and officers:

An example of an officer, known by his hat:

And the world famous kneeling archer (the archers have there top knot on the left, while the infantry have their top knot on the right):
]

After the TW, we went to an art musuem, where our guide showed us around and painted for us.

Of course, Tiffany had to try as well:

Right outside the art musuem, was the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Originally, it held the founding books of Buddhism. Now, it is nothing but a toursit trap.

The pollution was so bad Tiffany couldn't wear her hat:

Xi, took us out to get some great noodles and then we we retired for the night in the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in in a hotel.

^^^ Yea I got laid off right before my b-day while you were out of town. I kinda started to look but we had a lot of family come here from out of town so I didn't really have a chance to look. Last week and this week I have been submitting my resume like crazy and have actually gotten a lot more hits this time around compared to last time.

pics of shanghai remind me of when i was dragged out there to go shopping with my friends... did u make it into the underground mall??? it is not too far from the subway stop that lets you off in PuDong Business Center... Jin Mao i think is like the 4th tallest building in the world or something...
lots of history in Xian... i didn't make it over there... and more pics of Xi???
i think after this trip, G-Money just became a little more Asian and a little less American... LOOKLOOKBUY!!!
i tried to edit my last post but it was too late...
i forgot to add that there is lots of history in Xian... for those who do not know.. that pit of warriors is actually a huge tomb... at the time, the king requested that the tomb be built for him after he died... i think it actually goes back a few levels, like 7 or 8 levels, until you actually see his grave site... when the king died and one of his enemies took over the country, he sent his men to go in there and burn the tomb down... now archaeology students are in there trying to restore a part of their history... he was and still is considered the best king that China ever had...

Hey all you crazy fools!
Man, it's been forever since I posted on here!
I tried to read 6 weeks back, but I'm sure I missed some stuff. People had birthdays, Ethan's neighbor has an absolutely sick AMG Merc, Ethan had a great meet in December and installed a CAI, Aaron installed a sweet flat-panel, people travelled to other countries, we had some bad weather, the holidays came and went, and UT won the NCAA football title. I miss anything?
I moved into my new house last month, went completely insane trying to get everything "just right" before I started enjoying it, went out of town for the holidays, and then had family in town immediately after the holidays. Throw in 2 weeks of no web access at the new hizzy, and I had to take a break from AZ to keep my nostrils above water. Finally, life is calming down and I can catch up with you fools again!

So I know we shouldn't link our WTB threads to other threads, but I know we've got a few guys in this one that love good music. Grayson will feel my pain on this one. Basically, I need to find another copy of Best of Buddha Bar (both CDs).
